I've threatened to take my maternal grandfathers old Winnie M90 in .22 Short out for squirrels, but the glasses I get from the VA don't make some things quite possible. Rifle was made in 1936. Maybe this year with my last pair I have on hold due the almost shut down holding up the final exam after I had a cataract removed.

Having a bad knee, I gave up on climbing stands, but while on the ground have popped a deer while taking a whiz, and another while pants down around my ankles for a dump. One has to be flexible at times.

Maybe they were in too big of a hurry to get those out in the market. When Ruger came out with their Mark IV, I ordered one, hadn't even got around to taking it out to the range when I sent it back in to correct a FU.

Thanks for the pics, it's not about how big or spectacular the bone was, but the enjoyment of the great outdoors. Been there done that. An quaintness once told me on the way home from an out west hunt that it was too bad the hunt wasn't successful, and I replied that I didn't understand his statement and had to explain that I "got the hell out of Dodge" for a week or so and to stand on the top of a 13,000 ft. mountain and over looked some of the most beautiful scenery that one will never see in Indiana, so I believe my hunt was successful in my own way.

Years ago, I quit doing the 5 year concealed carry and went for the life time, around a hundred bucks IIRC, so I want my money back!

I've a bunch of coins stashed out in the garage some where, could take it in for paper money but the main lobby is blocked off and you have to go through the drive up. Suppose I could drive through and ask HTH can I get rid of all this.

I've been at a loss recently to figure out where all this health care is to be found. Last time I read an overview of the number of doctors and nurses currently employed states that we are somewhere around 30,000 short of doctors, 50,000 nurses. In some areas aging doctors are retiring with no replacements, seems the same problem occurs with nurses. A good while back I saw what one Democratic politician in DC suggested that a law should be enacted wherein all doctors and nurses should be considered essential personnel and inducted into a Federal organization [much like being drafted into the military] and could not retire nor quit without permission. Others have come forward to have the Federal 'guvmint pay for all the cost of sending tens thousands of people to Medical schools. Having spent my time in the military [combat zone also], I can speak from experience that this would result in that you could see a doctor when you got permission, and get treated if they were in the mood to do so. Others will say that got excellent treatment while under Federal health, and others have a different opinion, so your YMMV.

Many moons ago, my late father got into Purple Martins by building a Bird House by the book. Found out that the English Sparrows tried to take over and it was a constant battle of cleaning out the Sparrow nests. Setting up a ladder time and time again to clean out the Sparrows , he devised a way to cure the problem. He built a bird house according to specs he saw in pamphlet sent out by the Purple Martin Society. He could block the entrance to a Sparrow nest but soon found out more than half of the pockets were closed. He built a brand new bird house according to spec, put up a new pole of iron pipe with a rope and pulley system where he could lower the bird house, clean out the bad nests, leave the good nests alone and soon all the Sparrow nest were gone, and it was nothing but Martins. Also he learned to keep the house closed up until a specific time period when the good birds came back. If the Sparrows did sneak in after opening it up, it took but a couple of minutes to clean it out and put back up in the air. I got the job of guard duty, and when I would lower the house at a certain time when most Martins were out feeding, I would get "dive bombed" by any Martins that saw me around the house. Had to get used to that! Then some one put and article in the pamphlet that one could buy a ready built system to accomplish the same thing he spent several years figuring out. Guessing that something like that is still out there somewhere. After his new system was in, he claimed that he could sit out on the patio of an evening for the first time in years without having to fight the mosquitoes, the Martins took care of that.

Years ago I went for the lifetime CCL, and thought about what would I do if I lost or couldn't find the darn thing. Decided to go to our local office supply store and see if I could have copies made. Blew the guys mind for a few minutes, and he said he would see what he could do. Got a phone call a couple of days later to come down and see what you think. Same type of paper the State used, exact duplicate, and I got four beautiful copies made. Signed all four and put them [along with the original] under plastic that I got at Wally World. Later asked a cop friend of mine to pick out the "real" license from the copies. He couldn't do it! Never have to worry about going through the PITA process of replacing a lost card, just open up a drawer and there's the back-ups. YMMV

Years ago, I recall a small town wherein the local cops went on strike over pay or something, and the locals got together and formed watch groups in the neighborhoods. The crime rate dropped by 90% over night. Seems that guys suddenly showing up on streets, in alley ways, at intersections with handguns on their belts, shotguns, and AR15's over the shoulder had a distinctive effect on those who had thought about committing a law infraction. When the dispute was over and all the cops went back to work, the crime rate went back up to normal.
