I go wherever whenever.
I do find it hard to believe though that deer can't differentiate. Otherwise, why buy that fox urine as a cover scent.. Could just pee on your boots yourself.

That's a great observation about the fox pee. Not to mention, oftentimes when I pee, even i can smell that mornings coffee in my urine, so then, can't deer smell that coffee, and who knows what else they can smell in that urine?

I'm a bottle user. I've tried letting it fly but I didn't like all the noise on calm mornings and I couldn't get over the potential odors.
I think I've mentioned it before, I'm 100% certain my pee sealed up in a bottle will not alert a deer to my presence. I can't say that about my pee being on the ground.

I just let it fly off the stand. I try to hit the side of a tree so it does not sound like a cow peeing on a flat rock though. Heck I even pee in scrapes to freshen them up. There is alot of urine from all kinds of animals in the woods so I do not think it bothers deer. Now then a warm pee bottle might be good for cold hands. LOL

If I'm by the river it goes in there but pretty much let go where ever. I do bottle it when I'm in my blind. Dont have the urinal built in it yet.

My home place has all the smells of suburbia so a peeing just adds a little more closer to nature. Most times I smell laundry soap or fireplace.

I once put some Fox urine that had a “hint of deer musk” in it on my boots. I applied it about ten yards off the road and walked in about a 1/4 mike to my stand. I refreshed it about half way in. I walked within 20 Yards of my stand and past it a ways and then circled back to it. 45 minutes after shooting light I heard a buck chasing a doe and grunting. The sounds were between me and the road. Watching, listening and gun at ready. Then here he comes nose to the ground following my fox pee trail. He followed it right past my tree and down he went at 20 yards. A nice mature 10 pointer. The fox pee was a door prize and the bottle was in my junk drawer for at least three years. Back to the subject - deer are urine curious or they wouldn’t make and visit scrapes . I let it fly. .

This subject is brought up every year. I pee away and kill deer every single year.

Let it fly! Even scent control nuts like Jeff Sturgis agree.
The first buck I harvested (metro-Dale, 1990) was during taking a leak. I had to pause, grab my gun and shoot, finish peeing.
A few years ago I HAD to climb down for a #2. Left me say that if I am willing to do that, It’s about 30 seconds from disaster. I assumed my hunt was ruined except for the possibility of a spooked deer passing through. Not but a few minutes after settling back in the tree, a deer (don’t remember what it was)walked righ by the unfortunate log and I shot it. Go figure.

I guess I am the odd man. I just hold it.

It all depends on how calm the surroundings might be. Twenty to thirty years ago, a quick wizz over the foot platform was the norm. These days...not so quick!!! Might be the bottle. Might just hold it!!!

Do you really want to tote around a bottle of urine? Let it fly!

I guess I am the odd man. I just hold it. Once November hits and the all day sits start, I bring a big Stanley thermos of coffee. Probably a half gallon. Holding it isn't an option! Haha

I guess I am the odd man. I just hold it. Yeah I go on the way to my stand or at the base of the tree then typically hold it until I climb down.

Before I realized it didn't seem to matter about peeing in the woods during hunting season i used to dig a hole with my boot ,pee and then cover it up. Yes like a cat I guess. And always the next day the deer would dig it back up. So from then on I just let it go.

22-1 for whizzin' off the stand versus peeing in a bottle. I'm not surprised whizzin' is winning, but I'm a bit surprised by the margin.
I've been whizzin' off the stand myself for years.
