I hunted there on Sunday and Monday. Sunday I stuck to our plan and didn't kill the 6 pointer that came to my grunt call in the morning. I only saw 2 does the rest of the day, and they were right behind me and only about 15 yards. They saw me turn to look and they left. Son only saw 1 deer in the 2 days. I did see 3 deer today 1 buck and 2 does I got one of the does so now I am able to kill 2 bucks if I can get drawn in on the 8TH. I thought that I heard one of the people that works there say that they only checked 41 deer on Sunday. I saw 6 when I went to check mine in.(in trucks) Make sure that you have a chair or a stand because the weeds are so tall that when you sit on the ground you can only see about 20 yards. I was sitting on a blown over tree when I got my doe.

I contacted the owners(I work with 2 of them) and told them that I was going to shoot their dogs. They just shrugged it off. I don't think that I could really shoot the dogs, but I feel that I have given them fair warning and won't feel to bad if I do.

I didn't see any rubs, but the buck that I killed stopped to tend a scrape before coming to see me.(I don't think he ever saw me, but I saw him)lol

Abuddy of mine measured mine tonight and got 125 gross. From what we could tell he was a 2.5 year old, but it was the biggest deer that I had ever seen in the woods and my first bow kill so I am very pleased with him.

I don't know about chasing, but I did watch 2 small bucks following a group of four antlerless deer across the hillside that I was hunting. The buck that I killed was just wondering through the woods and didn't seem to have a care in the wolrd.

son and I are going to be there on the 2nd and the 3rd, but we live in Madison and don't have a big gas bill or a hotel to pay for. The north and south seem to have bigger deer than the central. The deer numbers do seem to be down, but is it because of less deer or more edjucated deer?

West,
Maybe we will meet at the check-in my son and I got drawn for Sunday and Monday. I would suggest that we get together on Saturday night, but I am going to a bonfire with my sundayschool class until about 10pm. Remember to turn back your clocks before you go to bed you wouldn't want to be there that early.

That's what I did 3 years ago. I only put it off until the day after Thankgiving though. It did limit my choice of location, but I got to hunt and had my son and a friend drag the one that I shot.

son and I will be in 39 on the 2nd and 3rd, if I were you I would take either H or I Road and go to the UXO line and go in there 2-300 yards find a tree and sit down.

Bighorn,
On the parks military refuge thread you say that you didn't get drawn for any hunts. How can this be?
