My hunting days will be over the day I have to pay like that. Geez. My hunting days are numbered since I lost access to the 2 little farms I had hunted for 25 plus years, and like you, I`ll be done hunting anyway if I have to pay to hunt. I love deer hunting, it`s not just in my blood, it`s in my heart and soul and my very DNA, but...I just wouldn`t pay to hunt, couldn`t do it even if I could afford the leasing fees. Some things are meant to be free and shouldn`t be tainted by money changing hands, in my humble opinion. WoW.... FREE!

Believe that most owners would be happy with some cash and good people. Think that is getting sparse so it goes the way of the basecamp types. Less trouble. At least 30-35 an acre in parke or go fly a kite

You pay for a beer, pizza, a vacation, food, medicine, entertainment. Hunting is all this to me. It is a vacation, food, medicine, entertainment and worth my money spent. To think a landowner is obligated to let anyone do anything on their land for free is not right either.

The days of “free” are pretty well over.
My dear old dad had a saying “If you want to dance you have to pay the fiddler”.

Some may have more time and energy to research, knock on doors and find a willing person to let them hunt. I wouldn't mind a share of the meat, a gift card to the local grocery store but the fact is if you're paying to hunt there will ALWAYS be someone willing to pay more. Price just goes up and up.

So you are comparing those of us who lease land to being criminals who pay for love? I know why I would kick you off my land!

Glad I’m on the downward slide of hunting. Sure hate what it’s become. Money, antlers and greed have taken over something so simple and pure.

Good luck with that.... sounds like a entitlement! Read my other post. I ask 2-3 farmers a year sometimes I get a yes. Not entitlement just a gentlemens agreement. And an act of kindness AND thanks on my part. Mostly I hunt public but sometimes I get a "yes".

I will not pay to hunt. It takes the fun and enjoyment out of it because I feel I have to kill as much as possible to justify the investment. I would rather pay an out fitter 2 grand to hunt a well managed property with a good chance at a good buck. The stands are up. Usually good lodging and food and a guide to help get deer out with cooler access. That is a vacation and a deer is icing on the cake and some will let you take does for extra meat. A win win to me

You can loose your FREE hunting spot just as easy as the guy can that’s paying.... maybe easier in most cases.

My vacation is hunting season. I take 3 weeks off in November I get a week off in December. If you want to pay to hunt that's up to you, just not my cup of tea.
