Sorry to bring back such an old post but has anybody had a hide tanned recently? Is USA Foxx still the best? Would love to just be able to take it some place in Indiana but I can ship it as well.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like drive up on Saturday the 8th and hang my stand that evening. Hunt that entire week with the Xbow and then gun hunt opening weekend the 15th and 16th. That will give me a solid week of hunting. I do buy the bundle license. Appreciate it. I will be hunting that entire week as well and then sticking around for the first two days of gun season.

I just got a pair of Barska Storm EX 10x42 Binos and I am pretty happy with them.
Met my bro has the same thing you just purchased and he likes them. It was a good buy.

I forgot what a deer looks like, 5 sits and no deer. Ehd was rampant here last year and I suspect this year to. No water running in creeks and stagnant water sitting, doesn't look to be a rebound year here again. The DNR will tell me it's just pockets of ehd, and left the doe count at 8 again this year. Doesn't make sense to me. I am in Ohio County and I haven't had any issues.

Both my areas in IL and IN got hit the past couple years. Where I hunt in Illinois it may take a couple years to build back up but luckily for me our place in Indiana seems to have more deer then people in that county so I imagine as long as we don't get hit again next year things will be almost back to normal.

I usually let a doe with fawns pass until late October when they are going to get chased off anyway. Its not that I don't think the fawn can make it on their own I just figure 2-3 more weeks with mom helping it pack on more winter weight couldn't hurt.

I would think regardless of your location your area would need at least 2-3 years to recover from the impact of EHD.

I have several trail cam pics of yotes moving through the area and within the hour deer walk by as well.

I buy the arm length gloves and then pair them with nitrile gloves and it works great especially if you have to reach up in the chest cavity to cut out the heart your arms don't get bloody. once I am done I just pull the entire glove off turning it inside out and I leave my havalon knife folded up inside the glove and just leave it in the chest cavity of the deer until I get back to the house. I also don't split the pelvis. I use the same technique as woody and it works great. Once I get the deer back to the house I take the garden hose clean my knife then I spray the inside of the deer to clean it out and the cold water helps to quickly cool down the meat as well.

I received a photo via text message earlier today of a whopper buck taken in Switzerland County by a youth. Congratulations to all who scored in this thread, and thanks to the mentors who took someone out. Can you share the pic?
