The only reason guys by me have started is because the COOP has put on discounted drying right now because they have trains coming in. Stopped by this morning and the average moisture is 25% so needless to say if there wasn't cheap drying right now most of those farmers would be waiting a couple weeks.

Not sure what part of the state you are in but here in Central IL they are just getting started. With the high yields they have projected plus the high moisture levels of the corn do to the mild summer it is going to be a long harvest. There will probably still be lots of farmers in the fields come thanksgiving.
Most of the beans around me haven't even started to turn yet. I bet the majority of the soybean harvest doesn't start until mid October

Do you plan on fertilizing it when it gets a little taller?

I don't use a cart or anything but if I have a long drag ahead of me or don't want to bring the ATV into an area I use a Dead Sled. That looks like a good idea. I don't care for carts, at least not in the places I hunt. It near takes a road to use one and they are noisy. I prefer my wheel barrow over a two wheel cart. It really is a good product. I have used it to drag a lot of deer out and it makes things really easy. Plus it rolls up really nice and it comes with a case.

Suspect weather has something to do with as well, (Hot) more night time movement and it's that time of year when buck's are beginning to seperate from bachlor group's. (Espically mature buck's). ^^^^^^.......What is written above. Heard that the midwestern states are in for a warmer than normal fall & winter this year. Precipitation might also be on the light side. Guess we'll just have to wait & see if this is correct. I think it all depends on where you get your info from. Everything I am reading is saying we are in for a winter just like last year with more snow possible.

man Boone we are close to each other! I am about 3 minutes west of Aberdeen.
Our acorn mast is looking good this year as well. We have a few ridge lines that are full of oak trees and one of the ridges leads right into one of our food plots so it is a huge travel area for us in October.

We have 5-10% beef fat added to ours. I enjoy the flavor of 100% but my wife doesn't so we have a little bit of fat added in and it makes it easier to cook and she thinks it tastes better so thats good enough for me.
Happy wife happy life!

When I was in college I worked for a local fert company and every once in awhile I got to drive one of those sprayers. Its amazing the things they can do and how big they are getting.

I have been trying to get deer to hit my mineral sites all summer and now its finally happening. I am also starting to get more pictures of deer all the time now with more moving into the area it seems. I went down and spot sprayed some of our plots in preperation for our Labor Day weekend planting. This will be our first large scale fall food plot and I am really hoping that it will draw in the deer and keep them here later into the year.
