I marched the 700 yards across the field I had the young lady exit her stand. We went a rustled up her brother and dad too. She admitted to taking the shots (407 yards onto my property to be exact) and did apologize. Her dad, the three of them actually, promised that something like that will never happen again. I left my rifle in my blind and had my partner in the detective bureau muted but on speaker phone so he could record the encounter so no accusations could be made about me threatening them. Aaaannnd in case they decided to shoot me in the back, I'd have a witness. Lol! I got their names and exchanged phone numbers with the dad. I ended the conversation telling them good luck and told them that the next time we have to meet, I'd rather it be celebrating over a deer. You handled that very well. No sense in making things any worse. Yes you handled that very well.

Climbed down little after 11. Ended up seeing the 6 point, a spike, and a couple buttons. My son was out also for his first deer hunt alone and said he had a real nice buck sneak up behind him and pick him off as he was watchin 2 doe in front of him. Womdering if it might have been the big kicker buck ive been chasing. A lot of people saying very few shots. Not the case around me, i heard way more then normal this morning.

Father in law and brother in law went this morning. Bother in law had a shooter by him shot. Went to reload noticed barrel blew out missed the buck. Is that a shotgun? If so, is there a possibility it was choked too tight for a slug? Or as mentioned above, did he use it for a walking stick? Glad no one was hurt.

I did this rabbit hunting about 10 years ago it was a snow on and I slid down the hill a little bit and got some snow in my barrel thought that I had gotten it all out.Walked up on a rabbit bed it down about 10 feet from me I was going to shoot him in the head I literally aimed and fired and he was still sitting there I lifted the barrel of quickly re-pumped the gun pointed back at him and realized my barrel was a peel at the end. I think I still have the barrel at my moms house I will post a picture if I do

You can shoot a rifled slug out of the tightest choked barrel. The rifling is designed to make this possible. It does not give the slug spin. Obstruction or 20-12 burst maybe.

My knee doesn't like me sitting this long. Standing and walking in place right now. I need to move it some. Still cloudy, day #4.

Sure that many of you have missed or made a bad shot on a buck of a lifetime. Right now I'm devastated. Buck with 5 browtines all at least 7-10" long. Been watching this buck all week. 30 yards right through no mans land. Sure he will live & maybe see him again but I'm beside myself! "No man's land" is a myth that won't die. There is NO gap between the top of the lungs and spine. The spine does dip low at the shoulder and your shot could have went ABOVE the spine there. That said, most here (including myself) know how you feel, and it isn't fun. Are you positive of the location of the entrance wound? Did you find blood and recover your arrow/bolt? I'd definitely keep looking for it. And, yes, sometimes they do survive. I shot a buck the first week of November 2010, and never found it after an exhaustive search of hundreds of yards that uncovered numerous bloody beds. Two months later, that buck was hit and killed by a vehicle on a snowy January night with my arrow stub still lodged in its vertebrae. Hang in there! Best of luck to you! high shot with bow. Saw the hole. Not one drop of blood anywhere

Saw a spike and 5 longbeards this morning. Left long enough to grab a sandwich, and I'm back in the stand.

Last 20 min got interesting. To my right on the bean field I had a doe and fawn walk out at about 200ish. While I was trying to get into a comfy position to contemplate her place in the world I noticed she was froggy. In the foreground about 50 yds I see the flash of antlers... thick stuff so no body but could tell her was Mr Big enough... he is bouncing around after a different doe. They had back into thick cover, I look up and the initial door is gone FF about 10 min and the same buck and doe come running across the field at 350-360....2 more does run back and forth. 😉 I need north, 200-300m, time NOW!!!

Set back up at my parents. My daughter is about 80 yards away where we set up this morning. My son and I are on the other hillside. If anything hits the pasture they should have it covered

I’m back at the house. My daughter got here about an hour ago. Wife and son are still out, I think they are waiting till 2 then headed in. We’ve got a family member wanting a deer if we get an extra one and right now I’ve got 2 deer in coolers I need to take care of here soon. So tonight I’m gonna take my suppressed .308 out and try to wack a doe but being no one has seen anything it may be hard. lol Wife and daughter are going to the rodeo in Louisville tonight so just be son and I unless he bails to visit his friends.
