Is that a shotgun? If so, is there a possibility it was choked too tight for a slug? Or as mentioned above, did he use it for a walking stick? Glad no one was hurt. You can shoot a rifled slug out of the tightest choked barrel. The rifling is designed to make this possible. It does not give the slug spin. Obstruction or 20-12 burst maybe. This... I once killed a deer shooting a slug out of my Remington 870TB. That TB is a Trap Barrel

Relocated uphill a couple hundred yards. Seen a couple toms feeding on far hillside. Good rubs in here, lots of white oaks and have jumped does before.

First shot in my area of Cass County wasn't until 8:15. Only heard 4 other distant shots. Crazy quiet opener.

Southeast wind is killing me with stand choices especially since I am carrying stick and string. Snuck right into the bedroom without spooking anything. That's good news if they're in here. My luck they relocated to different bedding for this very reason. We shall see. Good luck and Happy Hunting!

Super quiet opener. I’ve only seen 2 deer in Miami County. I have a fair amount of night movement on the cameras but not much during the day.

My partner's 8pt was a gene pool kill if there ever was one. I've seen fork horns with more spread. He was after meat for sausage, so good for him.
The funny thing is that after shooting that scrub, he had two true shooters in range within 30 minutes. He made a mock scrape and squirted tome Tinks on it. One of the good bucks stomped all over it and grunted a few times.
My buddy in Crawford Co. said it was near silent around him. Maybe it's the moon?

We've seen 6 so far. One good sized unidentified at first light, some antlerless, and I recently seen a big buck and doe just off property. Maybe 20 shots so far?
We got out of stand about noon for quick lunch and stretch, right back in we went. Luke is holding up good!
Congrats to the successful hunters.

Good luck to all out there! Finishing my lunch break about to clock back in. No word from my parents on if Dad got "someone" or not. Fired up wanting to hit the woods tomorrow morning despite it being Sunday morning. Muzzleloader got cleaned by my dad but not sighted in, although with how accurate and reliable that gun is it literally has needed almost no sighting in despite 10 years of use. Gotta love those Pursuit muzzleloaders.
I officially like using Tink's. I have not been busted by any deer while using it yet, which is super nice. In fact it seemed to help with bringing the bucks in the other day.
