I was pulling things together last weekend and suddenly realized that I now have an adult instead of a youth this year. 😳

Same situation for me with my son. First time not having the opportunity to take him for youth weekend.

Yep, time sure is flying by!
We will be on private ground Sat am, a different property Sat pm, and then the public draw hunt Sun till 1pm.
Sun pm will be iffy, depending on how wore out we are, and IF Luke hasnt scored already! 🤞

One of the kids I coach is wanting to go so I'm gonna take him. Both of mine are way past youth age. Just enjoy being able to help kids that want to go. Been seeing birds below the house like clockwork....except for the past 3 days. I know they read the same books we do. There were 7 across from the house (5 in a covey and 2 stragglers). Told my son I may pull rank on him opening day. Go

Since this thread will get some looks coming up, here is a current picture of the weekend hunter and the caller. This turkey Luke has now surpassed the old timer in size, at 13yo still. Glad I hung on to extra camo clothes I was done with, as he can slide right into them now. With this kids appetite, we are gonna have to be filling all of our tags now! Lol  |

My daughter Danielle will be out this Saturday morning.
Unfortunately she has plans for the afternoon/evening.
But.
The way things have been going I’d be surprised if she hasn’t tagged out by 9

Not real excited about our temps. Showing Sat high 46, overnight low 34, Sun 55. I swapped out clothes for warmer duds so we can hang in there a little more comfortably, hopefully. Will be fine as long as no wind.

Not real excited about our temps. Showing Sat high 46, overnight low 34, Sun 55. I swapped out clothes for warmer duds so we can hang in there a little more comfortably, hopefully. Will be fine as long as no wind. Bundle up guys... you can take it off if you wore it BUT you can't put it on if you didn't bring it. GOOD LUCK LUKE! |

Caleb and I will be at it tomorrow. We have a high of about 63 or so. Not bad but would like it a little warmer. Good luck everyone hope you get your bird any way you like to get them!

Got home early and did a test run with clothes, stake out blind, seat, gun rest, and 2 shots from hunting position for full effect. Id say he's as ready as ever. I worked early this week to fix my sleep schedule for the weekend. Let's rock. |

Since my son is no longer a youth I asked my daughter on the very slim chance she’d want to go as she’s never been turkey hunting and she said no, so like some others I guess I’ll have to wait until Wednesday.

Danielle is ready and loaded for bear…er…turkey I mean.
Been showing up like clockwork so we’ll see what happens.
I think this may be her last youth turkey hunt.
No more kiddos after this.
Bummer.

We will be out for a quick hunt in the morning. Unfortunately, have to pick up a new riding lawnmower. And then going to make our way to Purdue to watch a softball game. Will be back at it on Sunday unless it happens right off the bat tomorrow. Will be in a good spot but more of a scouting mission than anything.
