We pulled the plug. Drove around the neighborhood where we always see birds. A big fat zero. Back out to different spot tonight, as long as the weather cooperates. If not, gonna try to roost one for Luke's draw hunt tomorrow. I would be going to KINGSBURY and putting a plan together for tomorrow. Best of all scenarios! Hunting our afternoon spot. On cam and seen in person 4:30-5pm, so hunting now for couple hours. If nothing, then packing up and going to KOP. Its on the way home, so win win.

DANG IT!!! Had a boss gobbler come in behind us about 20yds. We were like statues, but it must not have liked our set, and it went back. Luke is pumped!!! Did not expect that direction. We are not inside a blind, but have a stake out blind out front. Have some gobbling coming from expected direction now. Come on!
Weather is much better now.

Nothing else showed, and the gobbling moved away.
During the excitement of waiting the longbeard out, I whispered to Luke that it might hear my heart beating. He responded "OH MY GOD, mine too!" Lol. Kid was stoked! That's what it's all about. That made my day.
So we split and went to the draw hunt location as said. Let's just say, we are pretty excited and stoked!!! Saw birds at all 3 of our spots we had picked out. We even pushed one off to look for an exact ambush point. Left and drove back by 20min later, and there he was serenading a hen again. They were out still when you could barely see. So she must be hotter than a firecracker. I told Luke he was picking our start, and he said, I think we found it. So, we are all set.
My energy and stamina held up excellent. I got up at 4am. Surprised with the low amount of sleep and rearranged schedule. My diet and health improvement has really helped in my mobility in my hunting passion. Still going strong, but ready to throw in the towel and recharge for tomorrow.

Moved spots. Had gobblers all over. One group of Jake’s almost came in but wouldn’t commit. Still have 4 hens on the field. Not sure why they all ventured off.

Was heavy gobbling and then silence when off the roost. Long lull, and now just starting to fire back up again.
There was 13 kids names on the sign up sheet, but we were only the 5th one to have signed in up to that point. Havent heard any shots.
We must say, the weather is awesome. Complete night and day difference from yesterday.

Heard one shot at 8:20 so far. No turkeys here yet, but pretty much every other sign of life is thriving.

11 YO grandson hunting with me and his dad in the blind, first hunt with a 12 GA. At 7:30 2 toms and 6 hens approached our decoys with the boss leading the pack running in the approach. At 30 yds the 12 GA sounded-off and the boss went down into a pile of flapping feathers. The shot was perfect and the smiles and handshakes were a wonderful memory of an outstanding hunt for the youngster. He can't wait for next season and do it again with his dad's 12 GA. Oh, he weighed 22.8 # and the beard was 11.5" long. Good luck to all of us on Wednesday. BOB

Figure it must be slow, since we saw several vehicles leaving already. We thought about it, and made a decision to change up. We left the blind up, warmed up in the truck for a few min and got a snack. Decided we would drive down to the next spot we had, set up with our stake out blind for awhile and see what happens. That field had birds in it. Dang it. 😡 So we drove around our area to think. Saw birds in next couple fields over from us. So we went right back to the blind, made an adjustment to watch their direction, and now in it till the finish line in 3hrs. Let's get this done for Big Luke!!!

No bird for us.
Inpatience bit us in the butt. Decided one more move to finish the day. Tore down, got almost to the truck, look back, and yep you guessed it, a strutter where we just left. All we could do was laugh. A great lesson learned. If you have confidence in your setup, stay with it. Oh well, we had a really good time.
My draw hunts are this Wed-Fri. Try again.
Later boys, and good luck.
