whitetail1 and I were at the lease yesterday finishing stand prep and scoping out new stand locations. Got a couple photos of the plots. I am beyond satisfied with the plots! Definitely signs of use by the deer. Hard to find any peas as they have nearly wiped those out already. I liken this first plot to killing a 180" buck your first ever deer hunt...going to be hard to out do it next year! View from the stand last Saturday when it was cool, breezy and misting. I saw 13 deer during a 3 hour sit that eve.

Looking good HuntMeister!
Any rubs on that cedar post yet?
They haven't hit mine yet, so I was wondering if I needed to use a real cedar tree with bark???

These pictures (above) are my back field. The crop is ground builder radishes, alfalfa, rapeseed, clover and cereal rye. I am real pleased with the growth. I have radishes as big as a hot dog. Lots of them. This was all done by broadcasting the seed as in no till. Harvested my soy beans on Saturday. Yield was 11.3 bushels/ac. National average yield is 40 bu/ac. The June - July rains killed me. Be lucky to pay for the seeds. Already plowed the field, disked and pulverized. The dirt is like powder. Drilled rye and rapeseed yesterday. Field looks good. Hope springs eternal.

The third picture is major radishes. They are exploding with the cool nights and warm days

Jim, have you seen any activity in your fields yet? Trail cam? Mostly young does and moms with fawns. Not targets for me

Woody, I am applying for food plot of the year award. Wait there are no deer back there (at least target deer). Just ground hogs. Maybe I'll apply for food plot wannabe of the year. Yep. That is it. Wish I lived in Parke county....Then I might qualify. This might be characterized as major efforts for minor results. "Stupid is as stupid does" or something like that....

Only food plot that works in Parke county is roasted corn

Jim, have you seen any activity in your fields yet? Trail cam? Finally! Picked up two bucks on the camera today. A big bodied 8 point and a juvenile 6 point and my herd of 6 or so young does. Funny thing, they were on the clover in my middle field, not on my food plot. I just broadcast some Beck's Ultimate Pasture mix over a clover pasture. They seem to prefer that field. Clover, alfalfa, timothy and orchard grass. Oh, and weeds!

I haven't hunted on my place so as to avoid pressuring that group of does. Buck bait......

I planted a mixture of things in my food plot. Broken up into areas to determine what the deer like.
So far, the tops of the Tall Tine Tubers are getting eaten to within 2" of the root. Some activity on the clover and oats but the most has been on the tuber tops.
