Got my final little kill plot in Saturday, then we had about 3/10" of rain yesterday so that was nice. Probably have close to 10 acres in plots this season; turnips, soybeans, and some pre-mixed blends a buddy gave me. The pre-mix stuff is Record Rack "Tonnage", Deer Creek "Buck & Bird Mix", and Bilogic "Grains & Greens Mix". Unfortunately the deer have already beat up the soybeans pretty badly, nipping them off as they sprouted. That's a big plot. Is there a lot of corn and beans around for them to eat? I'm a bit worried that they'll eat mine before it comes up good, but I think it will take them a while to find it. They don't usually come up on the hill where my plot currently is.

Just got word from one of the guys that hunts our place that our fall plots are doing well. Had a couple small spots that weren't going well so they broadcast some throw and grow Extreme radish to fill in the gaps. I can't wait until labor day weekend to get down and check the progress.

We had 1.3" of badly needed rain over the weekend, giving the food plots a nice boost. They are really looking great.

My daughter says we're suppose to get some storms tomorrow, but I sure don't know what she's looking at. I hope so or I might have to get a camel.

Henson59 there were some spotty showers Friday evening and Sunday evening. Just depends where your property is. I received .10 on Friday and none on Sunday.

These are my Tall Tine Tubers that went along the short side. I was worried about them as I ran the disk over these after seeding. I thought that they may have gone too deep, but they did well for 2 weeks without rain. ...and there's donkey in the background. Nice to have him back for a while.

Here's the rest of the stuff: I tried to remember what I could have done differently in the more bare areas, but as I was seeding and fertilizing, I kind of got lost ...thought I was at Walmart.

I have a little mix of stuff growing here. I was so happy just to see green after 2 weeks of no rain.

Jon,
looks like you had good moisture in the ground before planting. That is important..but we could use some rain..

Jon, looks like you had good moisture in the ground before planting. That is important..but we could use some rain.. Yes indeed I did and it went deep. Even today digging for that post, I was quite surprised how much moisture there was. All that early rain must have really soaked the ground. Rain storm popped up when I was finishing, but may have very well stayed north of the plot. I'll ask the land owner.

Well we had to beg and barrow the equipment to get r done but the plots are now disced up and seeded! Wow what a day, whitetail1 and I worked nearly sunup to sundown to make it happen. Just under 1 acre of plots is a ton of work with the equipment we had. Praying for some rain now. whitetail1 in action with the atv and disc...
