Almost finished replanting food plot's for spring. Reworked 4 plot's (approx. 4 acre's)to Imperial Whitetail clover. And have 4 acre's of corn to plant hopefully within next week to 10 days. Then time to get started cutting hay.

I only got one of two planned plots cleared this past winter .... then the river came up and stayed up. I was thinking of going down this weekend and cutting the other but with fawning season here I dont want to take the chance of killing any newborns.
We sprayed the plot that was cleared this past winter and I guess I will just wait another month or so to clear the second plot .... plan on putting them both in beans anyway.

This year I planted about an acre of WTI Power Plant. I have had the seed in the freezer since last spring because the clutch in our tiller burnt up so by the time I got it fixed it was to late to plant it. I finished up my turkey season the morning of April 25th so that afternoon I tilled the entire plot then planted and fertilized. I won't be able to get back down to our place until late June so if it decided to grow it should be well on its way by then. If it does what its supposed to it should be a thick mess.

I'd like to put some very small plots on my land, but I'm limited to what I can do with hand tools. Probably give it a go soon as long as the weather holds.

Plots done, tree's done, going to plant corn next week and the HAY madness has begun. Mowed 10 acre's or so last night. Managed to not hit any new born fawn's hiding out in the hay field's. Am always a nervous wreck trying to keep my eye's open for fawn's.

Well, I tried to put a plot in today. I was brush cutting beforehand and accidentally scared up a fawn. I turned the machine off and backed off. He bedded down a short distance away so hopefully no harm. Too bad I spooked him but was cool to see.
Waited 30 or 40 minutes before trying to go back to my planned plot area to let him settle back in. Not holding out high hopes for the plot though. I was able to clear most of the vegetation, but it was far from pristine.
Regardless, it was a pretty cool day. Never seen such a young fawn before.

I just planted a 2 acre soybean plot, and sprayed one of my small clover plots for weeds. The clover is doing amazing this year. Leaves 5" across Trophy Paradise Habitat Consulting "Trophies are built from the ground up" m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=852914431431752

Went back to check on my 3 acres of alfalfa grass mix and bumped a nice whitetail enjoying the plot. The crop is so tall he/she had to jump and run versus just run. Plan on cutting and round baling it twice before October. Drilled 4 acres of soybeans Saturday, almost. Lost a tire on the drill (flat) and then 2 inches of rain fell. Soon as it dries out plan to get that field finished. Glad to say that deer and deer signs are all over my place.

15 acres of soybeans up and doing great behind house. Got pics of 2 bucks already out to their ears. Hunting partner picked up 100 acres this winter, farmer coming out to plant corn on beans on his place this week after cutting the hay.

Sounds like my summer food plot may not be turning out very well. I just heard that it is coming up really thin in a lot of areas. I won't be down to check for a couple more weeks but from the sounds of it things aren't good. I guess I will need to make sure my fall plots turn out well.
Can't wait to get the cameras out and see whats walking around out there.

I get mine through a local greenhouse that sells seed. It's cheaper than ordering direct from the company because of the shipping Trophy Paradise Habitat Consulting "Trophies are built from the ground up" m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=852914431431752

Where do you guys buy your seed? Crop Production Services, Beck's and LaSalle Seeds. Depending where you are, there is a new company in Thorntown, focusing on food plot seeds. Can't recall the name

Finally got down to our place to check on my food plots and they look terrible! My Clover plot is covered in weeds so I mowed it will hit it with some arrest in a couple weeks to help that out. My other plot basically just didn't grow. I am not to upset about it but it still sucks.
Also took the time to fill our feeders and put out cameras.

Yea I have mowed mine twice already myself and have 1 that need's mowed again as it is in full bloom. Corn and alfalfa have really took off nicely with this rain we have gotten. I did lose 2 newly planted clover plot's this spring to lack of rainfall. (just didn't germinate) I redid 1 and it is doing well. The other I am just going to bush hog and replant to oat's and turnips in August. Need to get trail cam's out within next week over mineral lick's to see what this year's crop is looking like. I have seen 2 buck's with spread's out past ear's within the last week.

The heavy rain here is real hard on my bean field and alfalfa mix field. Probably lost 20% of my beans. Way too wet to cut alfalfa. Concerned about base rot. Had another 1" storm this afternoon. Will this ever end? By my estimates, we have had 4-5" of rain since June 1. The price of hay is going to be ridiculous.

Sure did throbak. Worst to come FRI and SAT. Estimating 2" to 4" in some spot's. Jimstc I did get 1st cutting of alfalfa in and also approx. 800 square bales of grass hay, but have 30 acre's of grass hay that is overdue to be cut. Expect hay price's to up this year for sure.
