Not afraid of the dark. I like to walk in and out without a flashlight. The only thing that remotely concerns me is that some moron may take a shot at me. And I am afraid of falling. Don't want to end my season with a torn acl or sprained ankle. If I am trying to sneak in on turkeys, I will cary a walking stick

From last year:
Only individuals and those listed on their applications drawn last September may participate at any park, besides Indiana Dunes, Turkey Run, Fort Harrison, and Spring Mill state parks. A public standby drawing to fill spots left vacant after 7:30 a.m. local time will take place at Indiana Dunes (firearms hunt), Turkey Run (firearms hunt), Spring Mill (firearms hunt), and Fort Harrison (archery hunt) state parks each morning.
To be eligible for the standby drawings, the candidate must be an Indiana resident (or possess an Indiana lifetime license to take deer), be 18 years old by Nov. 14, 2011, and possess any valid deer license for Indiana. You must present a photo ID and any valid filled or unfilled license to take deer. Standby drawings will take place at 8:30 a.m. local time. Potential standby participants can apply onsite between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. local time but cannot enter the park before 7:30 a.m. Applications can include up to three individuals. This is a drawing based on how many unclaimed spots there are for each day. It is not first-come, first-served. Spots will be limited as they are based on the number of no-shows each day. The need for stand-in hunters increases with each hunt day. If you have questions, please call the property of interest.

My hunting buddy is from Laos. His family was supportive to Americans during the war for which they suffered political oppression. His brother is my optician and he is a physician pain specialists. I enjoy being around him and his family because they are different. Other hunters often think he is Hispanic.

Hey from Texas and can't start my own thread, I was trying to schedule a trip to Indiana around mid October, would you recommend me coming sooner or later? Halloween was the best day for me last year. It was like someone flipped a switch and the rut was on. Took a P&Y 10 pt. Bent the axel on my deer cart. Kinda of eery late at night in the middle of nowhere dragging a freshly killed deer as the coyotes howled, but then again it was Howloween night!

Sleds are wonderful in the snow and I will put my treestand and weapon in the sled and pull it on the way in and out. Sleds are also good on dry leaves. Neither a cart or sled works well on an extremely steep hill.

I have and use both a cart and sled. My sled is smaller but fine for a doe. This year with CheckIn, i might be inclined to throw some game bags, for insect protection, into the sled and do some onsight processing; depending on how big the deer is and how far away the Jeep is.

Got mine from Gander Mountain, and yes...the tires are still stinking 3 years later! Nasty, very nasty, don't put it too close to your stand with that foul odor oozing out. After breaking the first set of wheels, the first time using my cart, trying to get out 190 lb buck, I put some old wheel chair wheels on mine. They don't stink, are more durable and go over logs better. Only down side is with the higher center of gravity the cart is more prone to tipping on the side.

I plan on buying a new Lone Wolf tree stand. Thinking hard about the new Wide Flip-Top Climber. Anyone have a hot tip on where to buy one?
