I don't feel bad about "hoarding" ammo because I still do what I've done the vast majority of my life. Once I find a round I, and my gun, like I buy it by the case and spend time after each season looking for it on sale.

First round was direct deposit, this round said they mailed a check. No clue as to why, but the check came today.

Ours doesn't have 22 guns or 22 boxes of ammo.

Found part name. Found manufacturer's part number. Found out that every place I've looked so far has this part listed as not available. Seem to have found out why the last person to take it apart didn't fix it properly....... If you cannot find the part after searching for a few weeks, you have 3 options that I can think of. 1) Degrease it as best you can, using heat and acetone, then take it to someone that can TIG weld. It will be a PITA because of the oil that is soaked into the pores but I'd be willing to bet that it can be welded. 2) Use the same technique to degrease it and use JB weld to repair it, and slobber a layer on the outside once you have it back together. 3) Sell it for parts and buy a new or < a few years old model of a known, locally fixable brand. I found one place in Kansas City that has it listed as "call for price and availability" that I'm going to call later today. I did find a place that had it as "no longer manufactured and unavailable" so at least I know why it's so hard to get. There is a shop here in town that does a lot of aluminum fabrication for my work. I figured if I can't find one I would clean it up and take it and the two pieces there to at least see how much it will cost to have one machined. I honestly don't know if they Tig weld or not. How advanced has 3D printing technology gotten so far? 😀

Nothing to pardon. Accused, investigated, prosecutor so no standing to proceed. No arrest, no formal charges, no convictions, no anything except me not arguing when the other side asked for a piece of paper to keep distance between us. Sounds like a non-issue to me, and maybe this is a hint of what's to come with the new administration?? The scary part is have averaged at least 1 gun per year in the 12 years with no issues. Makes no sense to me, but I'm the one who gets to jump through hoops.

Just in case anyone is interested, the website is not extremely user friendly..... It told me I was denied because of a protective order. The only one I've ever known of was 13 or more years ago and I had paperwork stating that is was non Brady prohibitive. I say had because that paperwork was lost in the shop fire in June 2019. I realize not the best choice of storage locations, but I kept it in my scout files in case of questions. Now I'm hoping the Prosecutor can and will help clear this up. The funny thing is I can't even tell you how many guns I've bought in the last 13 years. Even better, my time as a reserve officer was since then as well. I hope the prosecutor can get it cleared up. If not, and it happened in this state, petition the Governor for a pardon or whatever it's called. Nothing to pardon. Accused, investigated, prosecutor said no standing to proceed. No arrest, no formal charges, no convictions, no anything except me not arguing when the other side asked for a piece of paper to keep distance between us.

The Brady issue is your holdup. Go back to the court or the prosecutors office in that manner and follow up on it. I get what they are saying, but I have never been Brady disqualified. That's what's so weird this time around. At the very least I have to get a copy of the disposition and send it in.

Shotgun. I was putting one in the cabinet as a backup gun for waterfowl. We are planning a few trips for next season and I much prefer to have a plan B when I'm away from home.

Here is the unprofessional opinion of a 20+ year Hunter Education Instructor.
There is no "proper" age.
We say it almost as many times as we say "a safety is a mechanical device that will fail", each individual is their own being. 6 year olds with the right mindset and support system can be and are just as capable as some 20 year olds. On the flip side, there are some 20 year olds that some of us feel should never be allowed near a firearm.
You know the child, and you know your ability to transfer working knowledge to him. Go at your own pace and comfort level.
Good luck, be safe, and most importantly have fun.

To me, this instance is all every person that has to shoot multiple rounds into somebody needs to reference when the question of "why so many" comes up. The vast majority of people who simply don't understand how physics works has had their education through one theatrical avenue or another.

So for the first time in my life I got denied for a gun purchase. Anybody ever have this randomly happen and what the heck do I do moving forward? If you were denied you should have received a code from NICS, which you can reference and make a ticket. If the store denied you, I.E. suspicion of a straw purchase etc then to my knowledge there is nothing you need to do. Could be wrong about this. Just got home from the store. FBI denied. They didn't give me any code to use for answers. They did give me a handout with a website to find out why is was denied and how to appeal. No open protection orders or criminal investigations that I am aware of. Our prosecutor is the head of the county republican party, so I guess I can ask him at our monthly meeting Thursday night. Wouldn't that be some crap? First gun purchase since becoming an elected official and I get denied....🤪 Where's all my conspiracy theory guys?

Got the rear housing taken off today, and if I'm lucky, found the source of all my problems.
First thing I noticed was the casing wasn't sealed. Next was the bottom screw is bent, then as I was removing said bent screw the outside or the hole fell off. Next was the inside of the screw hole and about a 1&1/4 inch piece of the casing fell off.
With these pieces not connected to the casing the entire casing would push out from the spring tension of shifting into reverse. Fortunately the gears don't show signs of wear. Now I just have to find the exact model number and year to try to order a replacement housing.
Cross your fingers and drink a beer for me that luck is on my side.

I've been watching videos of people diving in rivers and finding all kinds of stuff, they found a CB and it reminded me of this thread and a question.
Would using a CB with a traditional hand-held mic violate Indiana's hand-held device distracted driving law?

HB 1292 is alright, just expensive. HB 1222 is an issue unless they add for allowing proper forest management to be used within the state parks.
SB 201 and SB 222 are both problems in my eyes.

This is my first year using ladder stands, and I'm trying to decide if I want to pull them or not. They have the woven mesh seats (nylon maybe?) The landowner has more than enough space to store them in one of the barns or outbuildings. I just know getting 21-foot ladder stands out of the woods will be a chore. They are called "buddy" stands for a reason. :-) I know a lot of guys who don't pull them, but just as many like me who do. Some of mine have quite a bit of age on them (I've had one hang-on for 30 years) so I feel better about having them home to thoroughly inspect them each year. Honestly, my biggest fear the past few years has been a tree falling on them through the spring and summer storm season.
