Could he have been quartered to enough to hit the shoulder on the back side? Or even the front leg depending on the angle of your shot?
If your last picture is of the bead, he stayed there a while 'cause there is dried blood mixed in with what appears fresh. I'd say he is hurting enough to not want to have to move. Might think about backing off for 24 hrs then try to take up the trail to the next bed. If he has left the next bed, chances are you'll not recover him. Probably has a good chance of surviving if he gets up out of the second bed as long as nothing pushes him up.

well no buck. arrow broke off. found little blood. tracked 175+ yards to a bed. not sure what happened. feeling pretty rough right noTw There seems to be a lot of fat on the arrow shaft. Where was it that you thought you hit him? Blood looks too dark for lungs. You may give him a while if you think you hit him well outside the lung area. The liver is a kill shot but you have to let them lay down.Never know.

I had my post-op exam in Cinn today so left the house at 8:30. Drove from Cross Plains to Versailles and ran 50 in. Returned to Aurora then down river to north branch and 250 to pleasant them back home. I got in right at dark and never saw a deer! I've spent a lot of time on the road since 10-20 and still have not seen a deer from the road. I'm starting to wonder just how low the deer population has gotten in the southeastern part of the state! Wade

I've been fighting ill health for the last three years now. Over this time I completely forgot that I had dug some ginseng (maybe a couple pounds) until I found it in a box in the basement. I am aware that it is not to be carried over year to year. My question is, Is there a way I can turn this into money legally in the state?
A related question, I purchased ginseng seed a decade ago and planted it here at the house, but also on the family farm. Since I purchased this seed(There has never been ginseng in this area)and planted it, are the restrictions the same as that of wild ginseng? And. is there a difference between that planted at my house as opposed to being planted on the family farm? Thanks!

I just couldn't stand it anymore! I defied doctors orders, went up to Gregs and had him cock my crossbow and hit the woods right after church! Nothing happening until a doe passed behind me at 80 yards around 4:30. Then a total of three fawns messed around me until one gave me a shot. I don't know how but I missed her clean at 24 yards! Must have knocked my scope out somehow. Couldn't find blood or arrow and the rain set in. I'll be back there with the metal detector as soon as the rain moves out. At least I should recover the arrow! Wade

Just had eye surgery and won't get out until the 8th. Sure hope the rut cooperates with my condition where I hunt. Then gun gets interrupted by another surgery on the 26th and another week or so laid up! Wade

He sure looks wider than that! Still a nice deer. I'd think he'll score in the 140's or possibly 150'. I haven't scored many 10 pointers. Still one fine looking deer! Wade

Walk a mile to the stand... Climb up and finally realize I've left my quiver at the truck. Can't help but laugh... That's not even funny! I worked 85 miles from home so hit the road hard to get home in time to hunt. One evening I got home, jumped out of the truck and hurried to my stand. Went to tie my bow on the pull rope only to discover I had left it in the truck! And that was NOT funny at that time.I can laugh about it now though! I sat from 3:30 to dark with a decoy and saw nothing! Rained the whole time. I was in a covered ground blind and took my rifle just in case the squirrels were active. Had two interested in mating but wouldn't stand still. Another was interested in feeding so he came home with me. Let that be a lesson, the one I just learned. If the squirrel is more interested in feeding than breeding, let him walk. He's older than you are. It's crockpot time for him! Wade

I've got one stand that is tucked up against a bedding area. I have no idea how but I get busted a lot. It is still a productive stand because it is also on a travel way. Wade
