...of chasing going on. Also, I have noted an uptick in roadkills around these parts. What are y'all seeing?

I'll second the uptick in roadkill. I've seen 3 small bucks and one doe all in last week.

I will have to agree that activity is picking up.
Two poachers we're caught on the farm last night.

Saw my first yesterday evening... stiff legged run, head down, grunting, growling. Of course the does wanted nothing to do with it...

Actually haven't had much issue the last several years, but the first 5 or 6 we're interesting. From what I hear, these two are the same pair that we're caught helping themselves to the fire rings we have at mine and my dad's camper spots. Sorry about the thread highjack. I have heard from a few guys that the boys are starting to get interested in the ladies but the ladies around my area still look like a group of uninterested highschool girls.

If the school girls don't cooperate, hopefully you'll run into the quarterback of the football team. (or perhaps the linebacker. "refrigerator" would be a good name for a deer...)

A friend of mine killed a nice buck working a scrape yesterday morning. I have been seeing a lot of does around the yard and field and no bucks around them yet.

Drove I-74 from St. Leon to the first exit in Ohio tonight and there were several fresh dead deer. Had a spike pushing a doe tonight and had a 2.5 year old 8 point on a mission right before dark.

Rain started and wind picked up a little before 10 this morning so I headed home to my sanding.
About a mile east and north at about 10:15 I passed a tall 8 point (140+) out in a standing bean field concentrating on something I couldn't see.

Anyone ever tried bomb during the rut?

Bombs are one of the rare weapons IDNR does not allow for deer hunting. Anymore I stick to a crossbow or rifle.
Sorry couldn't resist. I am not a fan of scents so no I don't know if it will be better or not. Just hunt!

I saw some chasing Saturday...young buck, but it's starting. Starting to see bucks (some nice ones) on cam I didn't see all year long as well... Starting to see dead deer in the ditches as well.

Thinking of taking Friday and Monday or Monday and Tuesday off to hunt. Going to check with weather mid week on best days.

Hunted in Parke County this past weekend and only saw two deer. One prior to first light and one after last light. Drove around a bit and saw no roadkill, was pulled over for speeding (Thank you for the Warning ISP!) and talked with the officer who said he hadn't worked or seen many roadkill accidents. Not much movement, but would think the next couple of weeks should heat up.

I'm scheduled to leave for Colorado on Friday, but may push that back 2-3 days depending on the weather here. I have 1.5 weeks to get my mule deer hunt in and shouldn't need that long. Anxious to go, but don't want to miss some of the best hunting days here either.

I buy my doe-in-estrus urine from Hoosier Trapper Supply in Greenwood. They sell it in whatever bulk size you want, and that makes it very affordable. I have had at least 5 instances over the years where I know a buck that I killed came directly to me because of the doe pee. It doesn`t always work, but it`s one thing to use that might make the difference in any given hunt.
