You have to use reduction tags outside of normal seasons. Sorry om full of questions. Can I get them anywhere license are sold and it's 1 tag=1 deer. Just a doe or either sex? I don't know that much, Ive never hunted reduction with reduction specific tags. I do know you MUST kill a doe before you kill a buck.

You have to use reduction tags outside of normal seasons. And there is no public land labeled reduction so you'll want to secure private land before buying tags. You sure about that? I was pretty sure there was some highway corridor that cut through public land. Not much though. You're right, I remember that being mentioned but I don't know where it was. I know it is not in the county he is referribg to.

I get that for sure 😂 Yesterday was a 13-14 hour day .... and those are getting old lol but it turned out to be worth it. I’ve shared quite a bit of meat from my two deer I’ve taken, or else I probably wouldn’t still be grocery shopping out there very much lol one more would put the freezer where I’d feel comfortable to quit lol Can I use my bundle license or do I need a reduction license to hunt reduction zones? 2 counties to the West is zoned reduction, I'm not ready to call it the End. You have to use reduction tags outside of normal seasons. And there is no public land labeled reduction(in the SW) so you'll want to secure private land before buying tags.

Just for clarity sake, I dont have any plans to go buy a new rifle for public ground so this is not a (, You have something and I want it too argument). I currently use a 300 blackout pistol with an 8 inch barrel, adding 8 inches to that barrel will add negligible velocity to what is already a 250 yard gun (which is another argument to the stupidity of current laws).

I'll actively fight against HPR's unless public land is included this go around. Explain? ? First, because I equate it to early voting laws, whereas only landowners could vote. Second, it takes 90% of the confusion away from game laws. Lastly, there is no data to suggest there will be an increase in firearms injuries. Anyone that has been shooting for a decent amount of time knows that a shotgun slug will ricochet just as easily as a centerfire, and because of its mass can actually travel further than a centerfile with all things being equal. Arguing that public land is too crowded is merely an opinion with no scientific data to back up an increase in injuries. At the very least a seperate 5 year trial should be put in place to gather that data. If at the end of 5 years there has been a statistically significant increase in injuries I will lobby against legalizing them permanently, but I dont think we will see that.

I counter propose that we raise the age to join the military to 21.
Theyre gonna say they arent reaponsible enough to own a gun but theyre responsible enough to carry an issued firearm and kill complete strangers while receiving zero mental health help afterwards.

Today while scouting, buddy and I saw two deer that were bumped up by rabbit hunters. One looked like a big doe and the other had a 6 inch spike on the left and a 2 in on the right. I encountered that buck half a dozen times and he was always with a larger bodied spike. Im thinking it was that buck but he had dropped antlers.
No evidence to suggest otherwise but it wouldnt be unheard of for younger bucks to start shedding down here. As of January 1st, my (new #1) buck was alive and still holding.
ETA: after obsessing over trail cam pics ive decided my new #1 is my old #1. Guess he added a point from my last velvet pic.

Unless theyve changed something, they used to stick a big red tag on it to alert everyone and their brother handling luggage that there is a gun inside.
If thats still so, id look at getting another bag to lock the case inside of.

Walking into woods this afternoon I noticed several fresh scrapes, is this rut activity this late? Some scrapes will stay open year round.

For the most part from October 1st to roughly the 3rd week of October, and the downslide of peak rut through the end of the season, I hunt as close to bedding as I can get. May still not see a deer till right at legal sgooting but its better than not at all.

I put that Bergara B14 on layaway today, mostly just cause I had both kids and didnt fill like filling out the paperwork.
My 6 year old is trying to blackmail me into buying her toys or shes gonna tell my wife I bought a gun.
Sorry to steal your thread for a moment, did t think it was worth starting a new one.

I seriously dont know why ive spent so many hours behind a turkey fryer and a pressure washer, getting splashed with brains. There is something special about knowing that everything from the skull to the antlers is original, but then again, there is something really special about spending 30 minutes chopping and prepping antlers and enjoying the rest of the day. Just waiting on a Mountain Mikes skull kit to arrive in the mail. Why didnt I think of this sooner? Bonus points, I used the left over time to finish building our new folding table for the laundry room, though I think im gonna add doors to it.

Im sure HNF it's the same way, but you cannot legally do that on state ground without the property managers permission.
In my experience, youre much better suited to hunt back off these plots anyway on public ground, deer tend to stage on the outskirts till after dark.
On another point, I have never killed a deer more that 200 yards from a road on public ground. You dont always need to go 1000 yards to kill deer.
And I guess I dont understand why you would want to take a perfectly good bedding area and turn it into food. Food is just a reason for them to be somewhere, if they are bedding there, then they already have that.

Thats partially false, as noted above reduction zones are open for firearms. While I would typically agree with you about the orange, I think the purpose of there not being a straight answer in the guide, is to not muddy the waters of where orange is, or is not required. I`m not hunting in a reduction zone, or, in a county that is participating in the special antlerless firearms season, so I`m not obligated to wear orange. Right......but you see how muddy the waters get? This is probably why there isnt a straight answer in the hunting guide, because a straight answer might actually cause more confusion.

Archery is one season.... not split into two seasons like in the past The 2019-2020 deer hunting seasons are as follows: Reduction Zone: Sept. 15, 2019-Jan. 31, 2020 (where open) Youth Season: Sept. 28-29, 2019 Archery: Oct. 1, 2019-Jan. 5, 2020 Firearm: Nov. 16-Dec. 1, 2019 Muzzleloader: Dec. 7-22, 2019 Special Antlerless: Dec. 26, 2019-Jan. 5, 2020 (where open) Yes, I get that. It`s just semantics however. Some people, and I do this too, just use the term late archery to designate that I`m talking about the archery season after the firearms seasons. Since the special antlerless only firearms season is not open statewide, orange would only be required in counties that are participating in that extra firearms season. Thats partially false, as noted above reduction zones are open for firearms. While I would typically agree with you about the orange, I think the purpose of there not being a straight answer in the guide, is to not muddy the waters of where orange is, or is not required.

Trying to motivate myself to head up to Orange County for the bonus firearms season when the time comes. Ive been away from hunting for a few weeks and its hard to get back at it.
First I need to get back to the range. I bought 2 new scopes and moved some things around.

That just shows the mark-up is over 300%. My guess it's around 350-400% markup. Whitakers is probably buying it around $450. Not saying that isnt true, but Whitakers can afford to buy massive amounts of product and cut great deals.
