Much harder to accomplish than it sounds, at least that's my understanding. Its really just physics as long as the pilot has trained and remembers his part in such things. Our pilots that were military did this regularly. This was a dual engine aircraft so that can complicate matters a bit, if the engine RPMs drop below the rotor RPMs, the rotors freewheel, Im not sure how that wprks if one engine is lost, the other should pick up for the power loss. I would bet that they did not have the altitude to auto rotate anyway because of weather conditions and visibility.

Died the same way Stevie Ray Vaughn went. Helicopters are fun, and useful, but they are not easy to fly. News reports that Kobe flew the helicopter himself on several occasions. Yeah, no gliding in unpowered with those things. Looks kinda like they hit that slope and rolled down. 5 people gone "just like that." They can autorotate

Sad news, especially that his kids may have been with him.
I saw witness reported hearing engine sputtering and seeing fire prior to the impact. Im not sure if a turbine engine can sputter (probably heard the rotors), I wouldnt be suprised to see the NTSB determine weather as a factor (controlled flight into terrain).

Outback Steakhouse is another one on my list. They even went as far as walking the woman who complained (and had the officers removed) to her car when she was finished because she was in fear for her life. Sorry, thread hijack over. I won't ask about Texas Roadhouse, that's my favorite.. I worked at the Evansville store for 11 years, everything from a busboy to the assistant kitchen manager. Its been nearly 10 years since I left but my entire time there Texas Roadhouse has had a policy to follow State and Local laws. I know of multiple occasions that the general manager and service manager told customers that they would not ask someone carrying a gun to leave. That General Managet is basically a District manager now (they call it something else). She oversees all the Indiana stores so I imagine that policy hasnt changed.

I wonder why they decided on that number, 300fps. Could it be 300fps is the minimum speed needed to create enough kinetic energy for a clean kill? If thats the case, thats not very impressive.

I've hiked a good portion of the HNF over the last year, and have never jumped a single deer. Not one, and some of those trails are 8-10 mile loops. I grew up hearing that deer hunting sucks there. I walked into a portion of HNF (mostly blind) and saw 20 something deer in 6 sits. Never more than 200 yards from the truck.

Bow season has roughly 52 days including the week between gun and muzzleloader. Gun season/muzzleloader have 32 days total. Drop 20 days off bow season to make it equal amount of time between each so there will be no more they have more/less time than us. Anything after muzzleloader season you can choose a weapon of your choice. Same as it is now. Reduction/doe bonus. Youth season could start a few weeks later in middle of October before bow. Just throwing out ideas. Don’t hate. Anyone can go buy a crossbow and be ready to hunt after a few shots.

Its not about us. Its about maintaining a balanced, healthy herd. No disrespect, but it is about us. Without hunters, what would the deer population be like? That's why we have deer season and for some, the ability to purchase extra tags to make it balanced. Youre missing my point. The seasons are designed around management of a healthy deer population as the goal. Hunters are just a means to reach that goal. Extending gun season a week would have some negative effects, especially for someone wanting to see more deer. Since IDNR has basically hit their maintenance number, that would be a pretty big hit if you start compounding those numbers over a few years.

I don`t know...the deer in Indiana get pushed from October 1 through early January, and that`s not even counting the reduction areas. I think the pressure on the herd is more than adequate. Yes, but the extra time would help some of us, who don't have reduction zone availability, fill the freezer. Its not about us. Its about maintaining a balanced, healthy herd.

Both are compressed air so why would both not be legal? Don’t believe one certain model is being listed as legal! Per NCR link... “An air bow would need to have a sharpened metal or metal-edged broadhead with metal points and a minimum speed of 300 feet per second at release.” I wonder why they decided on that number, 300fps.

Im currently going through injury reports from various states that allow centerfire rifles for deer hunting. This is pretty damning data for the "its not safe" crowd. Any updates to your findings you wanna share? If Indiana wants me to show them that nobody gets hurt, I cant do it. It appears Wisconsin deer drives are super dangerous and theyve kinda screwed all the data. Remove the common denominator (deer drives) and Wisconsin is pretty safe. Of what I can find with yardage and public versus private. Ive only found two cases of a hunter be shot at a yardage that a shotgun probably wouldnt be an issue, but PCR's could do it. It appears most injuries occur well within shotgun range and a slight edge goes to (insert dramatic pause)..... private land for most firearms related injuries. Im not sure how in depth I want to get with all this data and it appears I still need to call some state DNR's for injury data that isnt published. Work and life obligations have been calling for the last few days. I dont expect ill get much accomplished this year going through the legislature and my understanding of the NRC, is that rules adoption is driven by public input, and as I saw one facebook, the public is poorly educated.

I much prefer coyote hunting during the day. Its cheaper. Still havent been out this year. Why is it cheaper to hunt them during the day? The guys that I know that hunt them during day spend hundreds of dollars in fuel for their vehicles each season pursuing them. They get teams of guys in vehicles cruising the countryside waiting for one to appear. Once a yote makes an appearance the person that located it gets on his 2 way radio and informs all the other guys where the yote is at and they all quickly put a gameplan together to pursue it. Sometimes these yotes can get chased for miles before getting shot or "holing up". Yeah, we go make a set, call, shoot. No lights, no nvg, no thermal.

Our military is gaming the GPS on the east and west coasts for the next two weeks. Calling it testing. Also, all airways and waterways shut down to the Pine Castle bombing range in Florida. Also, there is a surveillance plane circling Richmond, Virginia. It also seems to be tied in with North Korea from what I can tell. It's seems weird. It's also been stated that this week is a week to remember. I'm going to the Doctor's office tomorrow. I wonder if the gaming of the GPS satellite will screw up my NUVI Garmin maps and GPS system? Unless youre going to the Doctor in Georgia or in south east tennessee at 40,000 feet AGL, I think youll be fine.

I guess I dont understand how much of a game changer this is if you still have to load the bullet from the muzzle.
Loading powder is the easiest part.

The GPS testing is happening. The FAA released an advisory that signals may be unreliable in the Southeast portion of the country between the 16th to the 24th.
Whether there is more to it or not I dont know, but this is a pretty regular thing.
