I'm back to work for the first day since coming down with it. Laid up with body aches and a headache the first day, headache the second day. By day 4 I was back to normal.

Busch light if I'm drinking beer.
Mostly I drink bourbon and ice. The brand varies but most commonly I drink Basil Hayden.
The wife recently bought me a bottle of blantons and let me tell you, that stuff is dangerously good.

I don't mind the increase, but I'll likely actively attempt to kill more deer. I almost never kill more than one deer on a bundle, either by circumstance or choice. Such as this year, I just got lazy.
They should have had the foresight to do small increases over multiple years.

Going to be a long day flying patients out of the small Kentucky hospitals. We're already sitting with calls in the queue. Too windy right now though

Thanks for all of the input guys. She used my .243 this season. Our property is thick. It's sighted in at 50 yards. All but one of the deer I've killed with it were shots 20 yards and under. She shot her buck this year at 15 yards from the ground. She talks about having a youth model 20g when she was younger but it got taken from her. I might try to find one of those for her. She likes to deer hunt and I want to find something that fits her and is comfortable to shoot. I don't see her ever needing to take long range shots with it or using it on anything other than deer. At 50 yards a 7mm mag bullet isn't even stabilized. At those ranges I'd look at the 350 legend, 300 blackout (do not shoot subsonics), even a 20 gauge slug gun are better options.

We don't eat nearly as much grind as typically comes from a deer so this year I'm mixing it all with grind from my pig and making summer sausage, Italian sausage, and brats.
Since it all comes frozen from the butcher, I'll cook everything In the smoker and refreeze.

7mm rem mag kicks like a ticked of mule, borrow before you buy.
And I might be biased here but 350 legend is a good recoil shy option.

Walked about 2 miles to hang one camera. The other area I wanted to hang one is no longer bedding, Coyotes took it over, but I suspect that buck has long died of old age.
Just wasn't motivated to scout/hint anymore.
I'm pretty sure I have a good grasp on where the pressured deer are and I can't get to them without a boat, and the water is closed for waterfowl resting.

Same here. I shot a buck once and some critters got into the gut pile and opened up the stomach that night. The next day I hunted the same stand and a much bigger buck came through and was eating the corn out of the gut pile. I couldn't believe it! I also hung a camera over a gut pile once to see what all animals would come to investigate. I was surprised how many deer came in to it and were eating the stomach contents. Definitely not something you would expect. Now, is that considered baiting? As crazy as it sounds, I can't really see an argument that its not baiting. It attracted the animal right? Does have been know to eat still birth fawns. I would guess CO discretion.

Going out around 9 tomorrow to hang cams and still hunt with a bow. Supposed to be good wind for an area of phragmite I wanted to hunt through, and gusty enough to pull it off.

Unfortunately that doesn't take into account food or energy price increases. What would that figure be for 2021 if food and energy was added to it? I'm talking about electricity, natural gas, propane and gasoline/diesel fuel. I also heard that the Feds changed the way inflation was calculated a few times since the 1950's. Any idea how that formula changed? If the feds changed the way a measurement like inflation is calculated, just assume it was changed to make numbers look better then they are

Well since the thread went that direction, we also took a pay cut. Mine was around $6,500 a year. The paycut was due to a schedule change, the very vocal minority wanted more days off, so now I only work roughly 108 days a year instead of 120.
BUT, I kick into OT 12 hours earlier on the new schedule so I doubt I'll actually see a paycut in the long run. I usually average 12-15k over my base pay with minimal effort.

We've all thought it, all these sign on bonuses for new hires, where's the bonus for the faithful?
I won't go into details why, but my company is offering a retention bonus for current employees with a 2 year agreement. I wasn't planning on leaving so I'll sign it.
Well as soon as I do my washer craps out. Now I have to adult instead of irresponsibly spending my money on tattoos and archery.

I'm good with a wind bump drive, I don't like conventional deer drives.

Are bullheads the same fish I've always commonly called mudcats?
Never thought about eating them. A guy at work said he basically grew up on them in Mississippi, but they don't taste the same here.

I hear ya, but you wont hear that come out of me! I am on private ground, and am 1000% confident in my spots, as the best guarantee of success is HISTORY. I have and do hunt some public land, but again, it has produced repeatedly in the past, so I have faith going in that it's just a matter of time. I dont know your whole situation or circumstances, but I will offer a piece of advice. Maybe instead of hopping all over different places, you spend some time learning one or two properties better. You would be amazed at what deer actually do! They watch you, they know where you walk, they know what time, they sit still and laugh when you walk by 10 yards away, etc. I am by no means the best hunter out there, but I can promise you my freezer has NEVER been empty in about 30+ years of being an educated hunter that understands basic deer behavior. Just throwing it out there. Very good advice I have hunted public ground a bunch years back and I always hunted the same area learn it watch It move your stand if need climbing stands go along ways on public but if I could say one thing to help you that really helped me was watching other hunters For the most part the same guys hunted the same tree stands walked the same path day after day came and left the same time use them to push deer to you not running but making the deer move to avoid them deer don’t always do the same thing but they do follow a pattern for food bedding and especially for safety I’m not a guy that puts big deer down every year but like deaddeer I can but meat in the freezer if I want sometimes it takes longer but part of that for me is I use a bow most of the seasons but you have to have faith in your stands that have produced One thing I'll add to this is that I'm a huge proponent of moving. I don't mean hunting another area, but something as simple as moving 20 yards can keep an area fresh longer. Especially if you get busted, I've witnessed does inspect the spot they last busted you in. It's extremely rare that I'll hunt the same exact spot multiple times in the season.

Woodmaster says this was the second biggest buck he had on camera there. The #1 was killed by his hunting buddy opening day of the first season. 125 yard shot with his 20 gauge Savage. . Savage 220? I looked far and wide for one of those before I settled on the ruger ranch in 350. Really good guns.

I used to love stopping at bowling green cabelas on the way to Tennessee. It was an opportunity to check out a few sitka pieces in person that I was unsure about.
Last time we went the only hunting clothes they had were basspro/redhead branded.
