So if it makes you feel better, I can list some of the downsides of owning your own hunting property. Property taxes Cost of upkeep There are always chores that need done Neighboring properties can change significantly and have a serious effect on how good the hunting is. Neighbors can be a real headache in general depending on how they act. It's like anything, there are pros and cons. For me, having my own place was always a goal of mine, but I can't say it doesn't come without headaches. My latest being a mouse infestation that damaged wiring in my building I use during deer season

I always tell myself I'm going to go on an out of state Elk hunt, but I'm not realisticlly considering it until I get disciplined enough to give Indiana deer season my all.

If people made their best effort to critically evaluate everything they hear and were willing to change their mind in light of new information.

Processing deer is very, very simple. I still cant believe people pay me to do something that is so simple..LOL I agree it's relatively simple, but it can be tedious. From skinning to completion, it usually takes me at least 3 hours and my end product isn't that pretty. So I can understand just dropping it off at a processor.

Do it yourself. It really is not bad especially when you are worried about the quality of care. It does not add much effort to a weekend hunt. Quartered and hung they do not use much room and are easily handled. When I lived in Putnam County my buddy and I cut our own deer. Living where I do now, it just isn`t feasible. There are many like me, who for various reasons just cannot butcher their own deer. We depend on a good processor. Space issue? I live in the suburbs and don't have anywhere to hang a deer any more. We used to have this old swing the previous owners left that had a roof with a nice cross beam we used to hang deer from in a pinch.

I cut up my own deer. I do an OK job. My cuts aren't particularly pretty, but they eat alright.
I'm not a successful enough hunter to practice it a lot.

I've never done a whole chicken or turkey, but I do want to try it though.
I did chicken wings a few times. About 50% success rate on those. Either great or terrible with no in between.

Happy birthday.
For me, I'd probably mostly use that just at the range for fun or get the longer barrel and maybe use it for deer hunting if I was hunting some really thick stuff where shot opportunities are going to be up close.
I find carry options and holsters limited for revolvers since so much of the concealed carry market caters to semi-autos. I haven't found many holsters I like and find comfortable for even small frame revolvers.

I understand his sister is next in line and supposedly she is crazier than he was. Whatever happened to government sanctioned assisinations? They have nukes so repercussions could be severe.

Probably not the best PR for hunters and trappers...

I just ordered an H2 saddle and a triad bridge. I will be using the one stick method this year and the will be rappelling back down the tree when I remove my one stick. Very light and efficient for long treks on public and very mobile and safe. What setup do you use for rappelling?

My trees are ready, but I haven't gone to pick them up with the stay in place order and such. Hopefully, things open up some before it's too late to plant or past when the nursery will hold them for me.
On the plus side, I just learned about a Dibble bar reading this thread, which looks like the ticket.

Following. I got the card that mine are ready, but that was just before all the social distancing and such started.
I'm not sure how long they will hold them for me.

I'll write the NRC about this and see if they can make sure those rounds no matter what they're shot out of are all illegal on public......... (kidding) I've only really hunted two states, here and where I grew up, so maybe I'm not in the best position to judge. However, Indiana's hunting regulations seem unduly complex to me.

I posted in another other thread my thoughts specifically, but they largely agree with what you said.
I'm in a low risk group and I don't have an issue with dealing with what are largely minor inconveniences for me to try to help protect those in the high risk groups. I'm just grateful to be in the position I am. A lot of people have it a lot worse than me right now.
I figure if we can slow the spread a bit and give the medical system some time to catch up on acquiring resources and figure out developing treatment protocols for the infected, we can hopefully get back to normal faster.
