And yet you still miss every first shot, so there is that too consider. I told him before he went hunting with you to miss some so you could feel better about yourself I thought that is why there are two barrels. Get warmed up with the first and so on....

It think SxS and O/U are great for any hunting. My rabbit gun is a 28 gauge O/U. My clays gun is a 12 O/U. I'd hunt anything with it and have hunted rabbits with it. Good thinking on the choke set up. That is the way I run my 28 gauge chokes. First barrel is modified choke second is full. Figure if I miss the first shot the rabbit is a bit farther for the second. And yet you still miss every first shot, so there is that too consider. So true. That is why on your advice I set up more constricted chokes for the rabbit gun. Funny thing my clays gun is set up opposite to the rabbit gun. Light full on the first barrel and modified on the second. Go figure. Works for me though and I gotta believe clays are moving faster than rabbits

I'm shooting longbeards out of my mossberg 500 with a carlson longbeard choke. It's good out to 30 yds. I don't have the money to experiment more so I'm sticking with it for now but will try some hevi shot next year. I have that Carslon choke. Shoots as well as my Jebs and Indian Creek at half the price. You have a good combo according to my way of thinking

Not to hijack the tread, but Winchester just introduced a .20 gauge SX3 called SX3 Long Beard. Comes choked with a Briley choke: www.fieldandstream.com/turkey-guns-make-your-20-gauge-reach-out-like-12Interesting to build a gun based on a particular shell or at least represent it as such. But considering choke manufacturers are hyping chokes specific to Long Beard XR I guess it shouldn't be surprising.

Leather gloves from TSC. $12 and last over a year. Wear them every day working around here. Mechanix camo gloves for hunting. Great trigger contact and control. Not good for real cold weather.

Evidently he has very selective memory and/or he is just stupid, racist, bigoted etc. His son was a no show at the game UK beat them. He played 38 minutes and scored a whopping TEN points while his counterpart, Fox, dropped 39 points on him in 36 minutes. Ball also had 4 turnovers. Go here:https://www.seccountry.com/kentucky/ncaa-tournment-kentucky-ucla-recap-box-score No one takes that idiot seriously. He is just whining because he is worried that his son's draft position fell and the gravy train shrunk. Just sayin.......

As I think about this I get to a broader topic. I recently ordered a Savage American Classic in .300 WM. It was junk. The barrel wasn't bedded properly and the bolt was real difficult to install due to I'm guessing poor machining. I refused to buy it. I have an older American Classic that is one of my favorite rifles. Sounds like a trend in some American built guns

I had my 3 year old 870 Super Mag hydrodipped by Genesis. Well worth the investment. It will never rust. Had the deer barrel and the rest of the gun done in God's Country Fall pattern and the turkey barrel done in a Spring pattern. The process involves stripping the blued parts to bare metal and starting the protective process from the beginning. I'd recommend it to anyone

Kentucky nonresident fees used to be a good deal, but because of Indiana's high nonresident costs they raised theirs. We need a reciprocal agreement with our neighbors. I think ours are cheap compared to Illinois. It's like $400 for a deer tag. Agreed. I had an opportunity to deer hunt in IL and passed. But what should I expect from a state that is run by Chicago?

I wear Danner camo uninsulated boots. They are waterproof, great support and are like wearing good tennis shoes. They are leather trim over a canvas like material. 8" height. Each boot weighs 23 ounces. Only downside is they have a real aggressive sole pattern that doesn't shed mud. Got them on right now btw. Here is the boot but an insulated model. I didn't pay anywhere near the listed price: www.danner.com/men/hunt/high-ground-8-realtree-xtra-1000g.htmlEdit to add: I often where gaiters with them if I plan on getting into marshy ground for the extra height

Successful for Winamac. 5/1-3. Same dates and place as last year. That place has a lot of birds. Check in rules have changed. You only have to check in at the office by 5:30 AM the first day. After that it is self check in. Evidently anyone that doesn't show loses their spot to guys/gals who show up to claim unclaimed spots on the first day. Grandson was also drawn for youth weekend at Winimac. We both really like that property. Sent you a PM. A couple of answers headed your way

My son in law has permission to hunt some land in KY. My research indicates that we need nonresident hunting licenses ($140) and a Spring turkey stamp ($75). Is that it? I know we have some IN residents that hunt KY. Hope to benefit from your experience. Thanks

In February I decided to upgrade my compound bow. Went to the small Pro Shop I have been going to for several years and bought a new bow WITHOUT shooting it. What an idiot! That shop has 4 or 5 bows in inventory. Dying a slow death like the Field and Stream article thread but I am loyal to a fault. Ended up hating the bow. Cams were terrible. It was loud, too light and the axle to axle length made the bow jumpy. Shame on me. Decided to bite the bullet and admit my mistake. Started doing some research and determined the bow I wanted. Called Bass and Bucks. They had it in all three draw weights. So, road trip. About an hour for me. As they proudly say, they are in the middle of nowhere. Just northeast of Mississinewa lake. The place is incredible. Over 800 bows in inventory. Service was great. They set the bow up with a peep sight and Whisker Biscuit. I shot it several times and brought it home and finished setting it up. It is amazing to me that there is a place like that an hour away from me. They had steady buying/ shopping traffic the entire time I was there. They also sell all archery accessories and guns. Great used bow inventory too. It was a good experience. Oh, and their price on the bow I bought was almost 20% below MSRP

Kentucky was called for 19 fouls and North Carolina 18. 12 of those 19 were on three players. Both starting guards, Fox and Monk. Then Willis. I still call BS Fox and Monk are the two top scorers for the season. You slap them with four fouls each and it changes the game. Fox sat out 12 minutes. Monk sat out 10 minutes. Monk averages 38 minutes /game, Fox, 36/game for the season. Even with all that help NC could only win by two. Enough said........
