Last week my nephew was deer hunting and saw 3 different sets of deer. Every one of them were being dogged by coyotes. I decided to pull a couple traps out and try and reduce the population a little. Well one eliminated and a female at that.

Well got it done tonight. Hit the lease this evening. Haven’t been out since opening day of gun. Sat in my tower blind that’s tucked away in a wetland type area. I built a small clover plot in there that he came in too about an hour before dark. 15-20 mph winds with a bit of drizzle. Double lung at 20 yards and he piled up about 50 yards later. Outstanding! That is a fine deer! Congratulations! That’s a dandy, like the split brow tine. Congratulations

Northern part of the state, small woodlots, never have seen a gray squirrel.

I just talked to a buddy that hunts in the metropolitan Holland-Selvin area. He said bucks have been chasing more the last three days than the two weeks before. Just passing along some information. That little buck I got Sunday evening was in full swing of the rut. My wife got in our SUV after I pulled him out and she was coughing and gagging at the smell then when she got all that out of the way she reamed my tail about it 😆 Did you tell her that it smelled like perfume to you?😁

Killed a really nice 9 pointer! I'm not tech savvy enough to post pictures. Here is a pic of his deer. Beautiful buck, congratulations!

Sad story. His life will never be the same. Neither will the kids parents, praying for them all.

Deer activity early morning and last part of the day has really, really slowed down to hardly any movement in Starke County. Same over here in St. Joseph.

Mike, you don't realize it but you and I know each other. I'm Matt Reed. My wife(Amber) and your wife used to work together at First Source in Wyatt. I just thought I'd break the ice so you know who I am when I post. Once again, nice job on yet another dandy buck. Thanks for telling me definitely remember and know who you are.

I got to go hunting yesterday afternoon got in the tree at a little after 3. Saw a buck following a doe at about 415. He was limping badly on his left front leg, but couldn’t get a shot at him. Then at 510 I hear deer running and out pops a doe. She stops about 15 yards in front of me looking back. I get ready to shoot at her pursuer. I hear him start to come toward her. She takes off and almost runs into my ladder and he comes running right to my ladder and catches me moving to try and shoot him and turns and runs straight away from me. I mouth bleat and get him to stop looking back at the doe that is behind me and I get the shot off. He was quartering away pretty hard but it was enough to finish him off. He ended up running about 300 yards into a cut and disced bean field. I can’t see blood on the ground so I got a friend to come and help. Found very little blood to track with ended up wandering around in the woods for about 3 hours and shined the field 3 times before we were going to give up for the night and go back this morning. We got in the truck and when we were turning around we saw him laying in the field. Great ending to an adventurous chase. He is a nine pointer that weighs 194 pounds field dressed. I don’t know if he is the limping buck or not but that was my plan was to put him out of his misery. I hope that he was. Congratulations on a fantastic buck.

Shot this guy yesterday, he came through chasing a doe at 15yds. He may not be the largest in the woods, but with what I've been seeing this season I'm happy with him. Very nice buck, congratulations!

Weather is just awesome in the NW. Cant believe nothing else moving except for earlier sighting. I could sit all day if it werent for previous plans today with junior being off school. Taking him hunting tonight at different spot. Good luck with the little man, that’s what it’s all about.

No go on the park hunt today. Waiting on urgent care to open. Pretty sure I have a bad case of strep throat and a bad ear infection. Cant hardly swallow at all. Looks like I'm on the sidelines until the weekend. Get well soon. I know where you are at.
