OK....we've been talking about it for over a year. Now lets make it happen. I want to know how many of you will show up. We are probably looking at an 11am or so start time....BBQ, shooting sports, lots of joking and getting to know each other. Families are invited. Also, if we do have something do we want it to be BYOB, or keep it alcohol free? (I'm leaning to keep it alcohol free due to firearms being present, but that's just my opinion)
What do you guys think? Is Atterbury the best spot? Let me know your thoughts!

If they have a range, trap and skeet field I think some friendly shoot competition is in order. Maybe choose up teams? If we do that we certainly don't want to imbibe before range time. Maybe later or not at all? Maybe bring the bows and a few targets? I'll even let you all shoot one of my crossbows. Maybe a duck/goose/turkey calling contest(s)? Bring our hunting pictures to share? Of course some good food. Kevin1 says he has a big grill and likes to cook. What do you like to cook Kevin? Except for turkey season and the first full week in June I can be there any day and time. Just name it...

If you are having it at Atterbury, I would suggest making sure that it is alcohol free.........just to aviod any potential problems. JMO

I think that going alcohol free is the smart thing to do.......if some guys want to find a watering hole afterwards, than go for it.......but I don't think that someone is NOT going to show up just because we are keeping it "dry". If someone can't make it a few hours without a beer, than they have other problems!
I love the team thing for some competition!!!! Any chance we can sticky this up in campfire Woody? I'd like to hopefully get an accurate head count over the next few weeks so we know how many people we are talking about. I KNOW the waterfowlers will show up....now them varmint chasers might be another story. hehehehe.

I can be there in 40 minutes, so I'd sure come if the time permits.
The shooting thing, especially firearms, will definitely need to be arranged/cleared beforehand with the property manager there. Pretty sure the range there was undergoing a major renewal not long ago. May be all finished by now. I drive past it every time I go there to shoot archery at the White Lick Archery Club shoots every month.
Those White Lick guys put on a great 3D shoot every month. If the get-together is on their shoot weekend, maybe the archers among us could get together on their range?
Sounds like fun, however it's arranged. Lots of stuff to do there, including fishing and golf, and the ladies might be inclined to attend if they could slip away to the outlet stores right down the highway near Columbus for a while.
Alcohol-free is fine with me. I like a cold beer or two on a hot summer day of outdoor activity or with semi-burnt brat and some kraut in the evening. I can drink a root beer or Dr. Pepper instead, though, and have darn near as much fun. Probably best to just go alcohol free with any shooting involvement of any kind.
I'll probably try my luck at all the major IBO events this summer, especially the two here in IN. Aside from those weekends, I have no set plans that would preclude my attendance.

Going beer free is not an issue at all but I won't be bringing my gun to the event!!! No beer no excuse on why all my clays are still in tact ;D ;D!!!! I however will bring my bow and I can bring a deer, turkey and coyote 3d target if some others could bring some we could set up a pretty cool course!! Mark T

I like to cook nearly anything, and my smoker can double as a grill too.

I'd be a "maybe".
My only concern about Atterbury is since it will be essentially "brand new", how busy will the range and other facilities be for the first year or two?

Yes the range was under construction. Someone might want to contact Att. to see if it is open. I thought they said spring but not sure.

Count me in Travis. I do most of the cooking @ home & in camp, and would be willing to help with the food prep. We will be representing HI on public property, so keep it booze free is my vote. I would hate to end up seeing Travis in cuffs on the Channel 13 evening news ;D ;D ;D. I think the shooting competitions will be great as long as we have qualified HI members assigned to range officer duties to oversee the events. You could even bring the bird dogs for some friendly field trials. Looking forward to this event.

I would love to come and would be more than willing to drive to Att. to meet ya'll....... Weather or not I come depends on when it is my work schedual has me working every other weekend from now until I die or get fired. Also I me and my wife have a baby due the first half of June...... lol so I think meeting ya'll while she is in labor may be out o the question.... I will have to ask her at the time I guess.

146 different views..... but only 18 votes. I guess the same people keep coming back and seeing how it's going. LOL. Sleayze, wife in labor would be an "excused" absense. I knew if anyone would shed a tear about the lack of libation it would be Chico... Hang in there pal, we'll get through it together.
