I went by the gun range at Atterbury again to check it out and it still looks like there is a lot of work to do there. Really don't know when it will be finished. I did see about 40 deer while driving around through there last night though.

Sounds good to me! Maybe some deer loins also, and some dove appetizers! Could even throw on a crockpot of shredded goose BBQ sandwiches! Oh yeah, we need some sort of potatoes to go with all this meat!!

I'll likely still be good in summer sausage and venison burger mix.

Just to keep you all posted......... There's a board of directors meeting at the Bell conservation club this coming Saturday. I should get an answer then, on whether or not we can use their facility.

huxbux, Please keep us informed on your progress. Thanks... In the meantime I called Atterbury and got this information They do not have picnic or shelter house facilities, but the Johnson County Park that abuts the property does. The Johnson County Park has a picnic area, shelter houses and camping - RV park and tents. The shelter house and any camping would have to be reserved. The range will be 25, 50 and 100 yards and we can shoot any legal weapon except full auto. They will have a skeet and trap range, but they are not sure yet how it will be run. They are talking about giving the control to a concessionaire. ( Mitch's idea? ) Thie range/fields are scheduled for opening the last of April or the first of May. They do have an archery "range", but it sounds more like a few practice target bales. Let's make this happen..

Thanks for the research Woody! If Hux can get the Conservation Club it seems like that place would be more "private" for our event, but if that falls through I think we can make Atterbury / Johnson Co. Park work for sure. They also have a model airplane field out there, perhaps we can take turns trying to shoot down some model aircraft. LOL

Okay...no full auto...wonder if they would split hairs if we bump-fire a few weapons??? I can get a good 800 RPM out of an AR with bump-fire.
Also - I am getting an FN PS-90 next weekend as well as the matching pistol that shoot the newer 5.7x28 round. If y'all wanna shoot it you will have to supply your own ammo!! That stuff is spensive!! But it is a very kewl rifle and pistol.
As far as shotguns we have the ol Remmie 870 20 gauges, a mossberg 410 and a 28ga SxS we could bring along for the kids to use.
I now have 3 FAL's in semi-auto - the one I am sposed to get next week has a scope on it!! For all you old timers who can't see the target at 100 yards.
I am busy most weekends for my jobs, so please let me know plenty ahead of time when this is going to be!!
Oh yeah...got me a new weinchester 94 Ranger this weekend. Will have to see how I like the ol lever gun thing. may have to trade it off...anyone got a Ruger redhawk or a stainless blackhawk they wanna part with?

Singleshooter......why do I get the feeling you have a cash of weapons buried in your backyard? LOL. Your arsenal must be something to see!!!! It would be a blast (literally) spending a few hours with some of your big guns!

Just got off the phone with the president of the Bell club. I have definite approval to use the shelter house at this time. Bow shooting is okay, but they are having a problem with neighbor complaints with firearms (an on-going thing for many years as I understand it), so that aspect is iffy at this time. Camping will be dependent on how many Bell club members have campsites occupied. My guess is, from experience, sites available with electricity will be very limited, but should be primitive campsites available. He would like for us to decide on a definite number on camping to present to the board for approval prior to April 21, the date of the next board meeting.

Man... seems like a lot of fellas want to blast some clay during this gathering. Did you get the feeling that they are saying, "no guns" or "we'll see"
