Curious to how often everyone cleans out the barrel when sighting your muzzleloader in? I’ve read it shoots better after a few shots, and also not to shoot too many without cleaning On a fully clean barrel mine will hit 2" left and 1" low. The second shot will be right on. So I only clean it when putting it up for the year.

thanks , have enough 4759 for this season but definitely need to try something different for future. Appreciate the feedback from a shooter with experience ! I have some VV110 that my wife shoots in her ML10-2.She wanted a mild load so we set her up with 38 grs behind a 250 grain hornady SST. I quit hunting with the Hornady 250 because it came apart and did not penatrate like I thought it should. I was pushing it with 44 grains vita are. I went to the barns 250 and never looked back. I still shoot the Hornady just fore range time because of cost but am sighted in with the barns.. It is a long story but i shot a buck 3 times at 80 yds or less and got all 3 bullets back. 1st and 3rd in the chest

Plastic can or metal rectangular can? When I was shooting the ML-1 in .50, I was using that behind the 250g SST. Switching from the metal can to the plastic can I lost about 200 fps. When the ML-2 that I have became available I jumped on it and swapped to .45 cal. and never looked back. If I didn't have a place or two where shots would be over 200 yds I wouldn't have switched to the .45 caliber. The 300g bullet pushed by 70g of H-4198 in the .45 cal Savage is the reason I put the muzzle brake on it. I was shooting the 195g Barnes with the light blue sabot but they were a bear to push down the barrel. The bore riders are a LOT easier to load, but the recoil is fierce without the brake on it. I bought a few 2# bottles of VV-110 years ago when I saw that it was available. I still have the majority of them. Right before the current powder shortage I ran across a guy selling V V Powders. The powders were for other rifles and pistols, and I stocked up because I could see the writing on the wall. You just have to keep checking the different powder suppliers every few days and jump on it when it is available. It will be expensive due to Hazmat. but once you buy a few pounds you will be set for a LONG time. I'm using the VV-110 as a booster for the H-4198, and have cut back on the amount of H-4198 that I was using because I'm using the booster now.

In all the deer that I've shot with the Hornady 250g SST (or the T/C bullet that Hornady made for them with the yellow tip) I only had one not exit and that was at 200 yds and the MV was only 2100 fps. That bullet did break the shoulder though and came to rest under the skin on the opposite side of the buck.

They shot excellant,1 in 5 shot group at 100 it is I was just not satisfied with the results on game. The barns I switched to shoot just as good,I like what I see on game and as an added bonus I do not have to worry about lead in the meat. Onebentarrow
