Can primers not be shipped? Or are they just really hard to find? I would try calling all the local Gun shops in the area and see if they can help or recommend who may have some nearby… I would get and use what ever you can find. Make sure you tell them what your wanting them for also Called every shop in my area, and the area I’ll be working in, and everyone is either sold out or never carried them. I ordered some from muzzle loader .com, but ground shipping from Oregon puts them here sometime next week. Maybe. I’ll keep looking till then

ASK HERE if anybody has some to spare that's local to you. I am South Bend area and will gladly give you a 100 pack if your up this way. SOMEBODY on here that has some has to be somewhat close to help you out? Come on men!

Call any Trap/Skeet/Sporting Clays places too. Like Deadeer if you are up this way (I'm about 25 miles further South than he is - 12 miles or so West of Plymouth Indiana) I have a few that I could spare - I buy them by the flat, not by the brick. I reload a lot of shotgun shells.

They have a pile of boxes of these in there. And it is a 6 minute drive from the house

Those Cheddites are a hair bigger in diameter than the US made 209 primers, only on the order of .0005" or so IIRC but they still go bang. SO, if they are a bit tight going into the space where they are held in the gun, that's why.
I typically use CCI 209M primers. Federal 209A primers are about the hottest out there. In my 12 ga load testing, using the Fed 209A primers resulted in PSI readings between 1,000 and 2,000 psi higher than any other primer (igniting more powder at the start and getting it burning before the charge column moved very much down the barrel). The Remington 209 primers are the weakest. I will dig in my notes to see if I can find my 209 primer body diameter chart.

O.K. Found it. Listed by diameter, not by brisance.
Part # 209 Primers Type & Use: Box/Case Diam. #CCI CCI 209 small-bore & mild 1000/5000 0.240" #CCIM CCI 209 Magnum magnum 209 uses 1000/5000 0.240" #209A Federal 209A multi-purpose 209 1000/5000 0.241" #R209 Remington STS multi-purpose 209 1000/5000 0.241" #W209 Winchester 209 multi-purpose 209 1000/5000 0.2415" #CH209 Cheddite 209 multi-purpose 209 1000/5000 0.242" #F616 Fiocchi 616 multi-purpose 209 1000/5000 0.242" #RIO209 Rio 209 multi-purpose 209 1000/5000 0.245"
I know this isn't the reloading thread, but if anybody reloads shotgun shells, and uses either the Fiocchi 616, Cheddite 209 or the Rio 209 primers, they CANNOT go back to using CCi, Federal, Remington or Winchester priners. Those will fall out of the hulls.
If someone is reloading the Federal Gun Club hulls, then they need to use either the Cheddite 209 or the Rio 209 primers.
Typically the body of the primers are slightly tapered, with the biggest diameter just under the flange of the primer. Fiocchi 616 is different, they basically have a straight wall, i.e. they do NOT have a taper. So even though they are are 0.242" dia, if you use them in cases then try to go back and use the Cheddite 209 primers, those Cheddite primers will fall out because they only have that small area of contact that is 0.242" compared to the Fiocchi primers.
So, when using in a Muzzleloader, you might have issues closing the bolt on the bigger diameter primers. Winchester are sometimes problematic in my Savage.
Dang it, I can't fix it so it is easy to read, all nice in nice columns. I'll get in touch with Woody to see if he can walk me through the process to fix it.

If those don't work for you, I have Winchester, CCI 209, CCI 209M and Federal 209A primers. Not many 209A - when I say not many I think I am into my last brick of them.

Thompson center or Barnes for bullets is what I always used. Tried power belts and did not like them. Triple 7 for powder is my go to.
Biggest advice: clean the gun as quickly as you can after firing. Never let it sit after firing without cleaning. Learned that the hard way. Lol

They recommend not to tamp the powder and bullet with the ramrod either. You'll know when the bullet seats and if your using bullets with a plastic tip, be careful when seating the bullet as the plastic tip might just get stuck in the ramrod and you'll take a chance on pulling it away from the powder charge. Some might argue that it won't affect the performance of the grouping, and in some cases it might not, but I've noticed a difference.

Surprised to hear Winchesters give you problems in the Savage. They are actually stepped in diameter, smaller at the nose, so typically are smooth sailing. You might need to drill the carbon out of your breech plug. You can hand ream the primer pocket with a size C drill bit. Will discuss more later.

I will look into a different breechplug for the ML-II after the season is over, AND dive into getting another breechplug for the other ML-I that is in the box. THAT will take more time and effort to get since it will have to be custom fitted.

Just pulled my muzzleloader out and checked to see where it's. I'm saying it's still on at 100.

Just got mine from UPS, looks good. Didn’t come with much, so now I have to make a shopping trip to Cabela’s. Oh no! Haha It also didn’t have the scope mount with it. They are NOT very good about phone calls. Rings a few times and they hang up, so I sent an email and we will see.

Yeah it’s in the description on the website, I just got an email from them, said it’ll be here next week. The bag of parts it came with had the replacement screws for the scope mount. I plan on using the FOS for now, but later, I have a Bushnell trophy that would be perfect on top
