Not as many as the southern part of the state because we are more of an agricultural area,we do have some areas that have decent numbers.

I'm back out again..
I went to the Habitat for Humanity build but rain kept us from working. We had very little "inside work" to do and that house was full of electricians and HVAC folks.. We would have just got in their way...
So here I am sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting...
On again and off again rain drops...

My food plot is soaked. Clover coming up nicely, and sugar beets are popping up now, but I need some dry weather to get the other half seeded ...looks like late next week.

Looks like tag soup for me this year. Don't think I'll get to hunt anymore. Family stuff this weekend. Only got out 2 mornings and one afternoon this year. Didn't lay eyes on a bird. Oh well.

Girlfriend and I are in the blind. Crows and owls are active. Hopefully the gobblers are too. Goodluck.

Quiet here too near Vevay. Couple of deer busted me so there is hope for the upcoming season. Noticed last night the neighborhood deer were sporting 3-4 inches of velvet!

Was out yesterday in Switzerland county and watched a big Tom strutt for a hour and a half with a Jake and a hen out in front of him. They went to the woods once the rain got heavy so I headed home. Went back this morning fog was pretty thick set the blind up in the middle of field with the decoys out. They were gobbling on the roost and couple times once they flew down. Did some light calling and at 7:15 they showed up in the filed. Had him in front of me for 30mins but never could get a shot because either the Jake or the hen would stand infront of him when I was getting ready to shoot. Finally got him 22.5lb 3/4-1" Spurs and 11" beard

I wasn't planning on hunting anymore this season since my son is in school until I have to go back to work and then season will be out. But yesterday morning after putting him on the bus I took a drive around the farm a family member of mine owns. There were several birds out, but one hen and gobbler got my attention. They were out in a part of the field I have only saw one other gobbler in the last 25 years. I figured I'd try to set up on them, since he was the only gobbler around there and that's not somewhere I would try to take my son if we get the chance to go. I got set up along the woods which was over a hill from the birds and waited. After 45 minutes I hadn't seen them and the only time he had gobbled was a couple of hundred yards away. I didn't want to call because I was worried the hen would take him away, but I yelped a few times softly anyway. He gobbled about 100 yards out and over the hill. Another 30 minutes went by and the hen walked over the hill and yelped 3 times. I knew then that she wouldn't take him away since she was looking for the source of the calling, so I started working her. When she got to 25 yards, with him behind her 20 more yards, I shot. He was 22.5 lb, has a 10" beard and one 1 1/4" spur.

Good job, I'm glad someone has had some luck. We're about done here, our birds have lock jaw and we don't really like sitting in a blind. No gobbles = no fun.
