I'm and antler junkie through and through. I love OBR.

I'd be a little bummed with a no buck rule, not that it would matter because many years I go without filling a buck tag waiting on that one buck that I'm after. But to answer you question ... I'd be out there hunting just as much as ever. I love to hunt, antlers or not. I get a charge out of having even small bucks pass under the stand and thinking "buddy this was your lucky day". I get a charge of having a doe in bow range. I get a charge out of just watching deer.

So yes ... yes I would be out there.

I would be out there. I'm not a fanatic supporter of the OBR but I don't think it is the root of all evils either.

I am a meat hunter. During my season (it's over for me now due to work travel) I only saw 1 buck. A small 4 pt. I let him walk. I would have no problem do it again. Under a 2BR i would let him walk as well.

Semisneak, I've argued and argued the pro-OBR stance until my fingers have bled over here. I've argued the numbers, the statistics, the graphs, I've offended some, I've made enemies, I've pizzed people off. You know, it just simply isn't worth arguing anymore. If you want my views, numbers, etc. go back and search the July and August time frame on here. I'm done debating because people on this site don't want to hear it. It is a no win argument for either side. If I go into again, I just further alienate myself on this site, as here and only here, I'm clearly in the minority. Must be the same for the ethics of hunting I'm now finding out too.

There is hardly a single thread on this deer forum anymore that someone can't resist throwing in the OBR debate. It is truly sad.

I know a ton of hunters. Locally, regionally, members of wild life groups, members of various forums, ect. And still this site is the ONLY place where I've seen so much anti-OBR rhetoric. We all have our opinions on various hunting topics and that is cool, so I'm just going to leave it at that.

If you doubt my passion for hunting, then push a no buck rule through. I GUARANTEE I'll be out there in the deer woods in excess of 300 hours a season, just like always. Where will the rest be?

What do I believe?

I believe what Dr. Jim Mitchell (our hired and paid for Indiana deer biologist) said about the OBR.

"It made no significant difference".

PERIOD..

To me that SHOULD be the end of story.

Now you can slice it, dice it, and cut it any which way you want but the deer biology is on the anti-OBR side.

Your side is "That's the way we want it". Well, you got it and drug us along with it.

I've seen some of the "other sites" and believe me if an any anti-OBR person posted anything they get slammed and slammed hard. Personal attacks galore.

Maybe this is a safe haven for someone that doesn't believe that the OBR hung the moon. Maybe here a deer hunter that is opposed to the OBR can speak his piece without getting slammed constantly.

Yes, I would.

In fact I did that the last 5 seasons AFTER I killed my one buck.

The One Buck Rule became a No Buck Rule after I killed one.

Begrudgingly, but I did hunt deer.

I agree, doesn't matter to me one way or another. What ever is best for the sport and deer herd is fine by me. I put two in the freezer with my bow and waiting on another one with my gun (talking deer in general here, no buck yet).

You have an opinion on the obr which is fine. You should not be alienated for that. People calling other hunters slobs and unethical for legally killing deer the way they see fit is another story. It seems some peoples horse rides a little higher then others.

I would hunt until I had enough meat for my family. Two or three does. I would probably take up duck hunting or trapping . Or go to Kentucky to deer hunt since I turkey hunt there in the spring anyway. I killed a buck and doe this year during bow season and only gun hunted two times so far. I would be more then a little bummed out with a nbr.

Nah.. they don't have handles like bucks do .
