I found a good deal on eBay with free shipping. I ordered it Tuesday night and was surprised to see it here already. I've never used a doe decoy before so, we'll see how well it works. I suppose it'll all depend on the bucks mood on whether he wants to fight or ....you know.... I think she needs a little more white inside her ears along with some more white and brown on the nose with less black.    |

Since the firearm season doesn't come in until the 18th I feel I have I have plenty of opportunity to archery hunt. Might go a few times before Halloween, but it is game on from then on. I went up to my 40 acres this morning. All three mock scrapes had been hit pretty good. One branch was torn out of the food plot rubbing tree. I reinstalled it and freshened the scrapes up. Woody’s Wonderful Whiz! My Reveal camera has not updated in a month, but it is taking pictures daily. As long as it's doing that I'm not messing with it. I cleared the path to the farmers field south of us with my weed whacker/brush blade. I only had to do about 15 feet where a tree had fallen over the old trial and briars had sprung up. Remarked the trail with new orange streamers leading to my ditch and then walk in the ditch to the stand . That’s more for my grandson as I know the ground like the back of my hand. There are 4 big scrapes on that old trail! Same place every year. Need to check on a couple more stands. One is close to the 4 big scrapes. . I usually take the first week of firearm season off. But, I'm taking November 4th thru the 12th off instead. Hopefully get in on some good rut action. But, I won't be heartbroken if I get my buck beforehand. Lol! November 18th is my birthday and I'll probably do an all day sit if I don't tag out before then. |

I went out behind the house last night to check my trail cam. I noticed the mineral blocks were still out (the hunter has been hunting over them by his own admission). I called the landowner since clearly the hunter was not going to. The landowner was very attentive to the issue at hand and seemed to now understand the baiting laws. He assured me that he was going to address it immediately and have the mineral blocks removed. I didn't ask him who put them out because in the end, it really doesn't matter.
I'm still on the fence on whether or not I even want to hunt back there this season. I definitely won't be hunting those woods but, I will have a difficult time convincing myself to hunt the field also.

A couple of does slipped by out of range. Grass is taller than I thought as they were hard to see. One decent looking 6pt got a pass.  |

Last year, some guys from work and a few other friends formed our own big buck contest. $50 buy in, winner takes all.
We have the same group of people as last year but, added a couple more. We had a big buck contest cookout last night. People paid their entry fees, swapped stories, shared photos etc...
The two new contest entries brought some mounts of their recent success. One brought a deer in that was 200+ he killed with archery and the other brought in a 177 he killed with a rifle. Both deer were absolute studs!
