I have a little buddy heater in the main blind I plan on hunting and one of the smaller, more packable ones to lug around to my other blinds as needed. I doubt I go out again until the Friday after Thanksgiving. Giving the woods a little rest and my neighbors some time to connect before I go on doe patrol.

Not live but fairly close. It’s been a slow season for me so far. Several long sits with no deer seen and camera has been dead. This guy showed at 7:50 am this morning out of nowhere. He came in real quite and quick and almost got past me. Fortunately I was able to stop him in the last shooting lane I had. It may have been a little longer but from the point of first seeing him to letting the arrow fly it may have been 15 seconds. He's a gooder! Congratulations!

Well, this is exciting. I’m pretty sure I have a buck locked down with a doe about 20 yards from my stand. I got in here at 3 and let out an estrous bleat soon after. There were immediately footsteps, close by, on the other side of a 12’ tall wall of multi flora rose. A few minutes of silence, I bleat again, and am answered by a soft grunt. After a few more minutes I grunted, which led to more footsteps and what sounded like taking of antlers in the brush. He won’t step out though, any deer from that way will have to actually enter the food plot for me to see them. I’m pretty sure they’re still there, hopefully the doe leads him into the food plot before dark. Yeah buddy! Good luck!

Some folks in here giving the guy a hard time and stressing the importance of a safety harness. Makes me wonder how many have actually thought about a recovery effort after you are just hanging in a tree in your harness, are we all well prepared what to do at that stage? My harness has "recovery straps" or "suspension relief strap", whichever you want to call it, built in.

Smoked a nice doe this morning. Came in to 25 yards. Kinda knew something was up but got top of heart and both lungs. Watched her fall about 40 yards away. Heading to the butcher after breakfast. Congratulations!!!!

Lesson learned, don't ever listen to me again! Lol! Hahaha. I’m going to hold you responsible for the rest of my days. 🤣 To be fair, my wife told me to sit in the other stand and I didn’t listen to her. We’ll never know what I missed out on. I'm guessing a 184" nontypical.... broadside....24 yards..... looking away....front leg on your side was positioned forward.... standing there for 7 minutes. Other than that, no other deer went by.

Had my least eventful sit of the year tonight. Saw 4 does 300 yards out in the field 10 minutes before the end of legal. That was it. Still a really nice evening to be in a tree. Lesson learned, don't ever listen to me again! Lol!

Unexpectedly finished a customer’s job early today… going to get in a tree. Now the tough question: east stand of middle stand? Lol I vote for whichever stands gets you close to a field edge or bedding. Lol

I guess I don't when being compassionate towards others became so offensive.

“We’re told by the sheriff the hunter had injuries to both his back and legs.” Back injury could be some serious stuff… Yeah, this could be a life altering event for him.

I think he’s paying a pretty stiff penalty right now…. I completely agree.

Dang, now I'm really interested in the story for the suggestion of such a stiff penalty. If your stance on that is simply based on him not wearing a safety harness then I'd have to disagree with the life time ban. Especially if it wasn't required to hunt. Now, if he was commiting actual criminal offense or intentional game violations, then sure, ban him. I hope that this experience is enough to convince him to wear safety gear in the future and utilize the lifeline system. I hope and pray he recovers well enough to even get back into the deer woods. The articles I did find to read, just indicated that he wasn't wearing any safety gear. If I'm missing something, let me know. Agree if it isn't a rule. Maybe DNR needs to consider making it a rule for draw hunts. I just get tired of people posting and feeling sorry for people that don't take necessary safety precautions. They wouldn't have gotten hurt or fallen if they were responsible hunters. Sometimes it's a hard lesson learned. And I would like to think that, if he recovers well enough, he'll learn from this. His medical expenses will be through the roof (the helicopter ride alone will be huge) and any lingering issues will, or at least should, serve as a constant reminder of the cost of not hunting safely. Since I don't hunt State parks or public, I'm not sure that I'm entitled to an opinion on it but, I would agree, that safety harnesses and lifelines should be a requirement.
