I think these politiciians and their tactics should be remembered when their time for re-election comes up.

I went to a string loop because my release kept crimping my serving and breaking it at the most inopportune times. No problems now.

There is a local farmer and friend that allows too many hunters on his property as it is very crowded during gun season and has never had depredation tags in all of his years farming, This year with the near drought conditions in our area the deer were concentrated around the small river that divides his place and when his soybeans sprouted the deer devoured them .He lost 7 acres or more of his crop because they ate the beans down to the point that they stopped growing and the rest of the field is damaged. So 7 acres x50 bushels potential harest per acre x $8 / bushel =$2800 lost not including fertilizer ($43/acre), seed ( $35/acre) , time , fuel ( too much as we all know ) loss of income on the damaged balance of the field and wear on equipment. So he said he needed to do something and got permits. He has resticted his shooters to antlerless only and requires that the meat be utilized. In such cases the deer that were there for water and damaging his crop may not even be present during season and the fact that the problem has to be stopped NOW not wait until October I can understand the need for these permits:however , I do know that this system is abused just like many others things in our society. .

I got lucky on Friday the 13th and found another old Ruger ( made in 1985) . Haven't scoped it yet but shoots great with open sights. My wife is going to use the first one I bought and I may use this one once in a while but I think it will work great for my son or little nephew.

Yeah my wife loves my Ruger Carbine. I don't think I'll ever get to hunt with it unless she's tagged out.

When you pick a tree for a stand now you can see what it is going to look like when the leaves are down next fall.

Oh BTW if this becomes legal for deer in IN I may have to find me another one because my wife has fell in love with this little carbine and says it will be hers to deer hunt with.

picked up an old style Ruger carbine 44 Mag Auto at a gun show the other day .It came already scoped and will shoot 240 gr or 300 gr in a ragged hole at 50 yds. I figured even if this thing won't pass in IN I will still be able to use it in KY

They are posted on the DNR website for the next several years. But they are easy to figure out because they use the formula of opening on the first Saturday after the 11th of November but not on the 11th.

I would rather see it go the other way with an early September opening like Kentucky. I would rather shoot a velvet buck than one that has bloody stubs from just shedding his antlers.
