Really surprised to hear of no action for some so far. Looks like a stellar morning. Solid frost and dead calm in NE LaPorte county. Squirrels are running nuts in our yard. Gearing up for last round of stand prep, cam card swaps, and evening hunt. Can't wait.

Up to 8 deer so far. Just had a good buck chase a doe grunting like crazy in a big circle. Ended up coming by about 8 yards away. I did everything but jump out of the stand to stop him, but he kept right on running. Maybe they’ll circle back again. That got the ole ticker going pretty good.

Narrow, tall 8-pointer(?) just dogged 5 does past me. One managed to avoid him and is 10 yards to my right.

Well Hovey Lake came through for my wife's uncle this morning. Not a giant but it's his 1st ever bow kill that he's been able to recover

Had six does and fawns all around me feeding. Decent 8 came out and started harassing them. Took safety off and thought about it but it's my first hunt of the year and he was first buck seen. Have seen a couple other bucks now as well. Thought about sitting all day but I'm not sure now that I've eaten both of my granola bars.

And frankly I'm ashamed I've let this woods' squirrel population get this out of control. Not cool

Have seen 4 more bucks since my last post. Two grunting and following the same trail the big one was chasing the doe on. Too bad they were just little fellas.

Buck that was dogging the does. I have some good video of him 10 yards to my right.

Well. If you evening hunt is anything like my current hunt your better off with a cup of hot coffee in a recliner. Already been enjoying that scenario today. Lol. Don't have to tell you, a veteran hunter, but things can change in a blink of an eye and make you eat those words. 😆

Just saw a deer walking through the hollow a hundred yards below me, sunshine illuminating it. Couldn't see a head, and it ignored my grunts. As much as I hate to climb down, I have to take my wife to lunch. Lol!
