4 bucks 2 does in all . Set until 12 . The 8 pointer I picked my bow up twice debating to take him or not . Instead let him walk hopefully don’t regret that decision 😂

Set up at inside a brushy area hoping the come down the hill to me. Wind has been a bit swirly already though. Nice scrape 20 yards from me.

Saw a nice buck trot across a field a ways off. But, I am too cold to enjoy this anymore. Gun on my hand, its a different story. My legs always get cold, so I have made an executive decision that I am going shopping for some real cold weather duds. Getting to the point in my life that I realize it's not getting any easier, and if I want to be out in this, I gotta be prepared. I own a Heater Body Suit and can honestly recommend it. Obviously you have to take the time to get into it once you reach the stand, but it really does keep you warm. I don't use it often -- I think the last time was the 2022(?) firearms opener when a snow blew in at dawn and my suit was covered with a thick layer of snow. Congratulations on the buck, Tacoma! |

Seen two shooters tonight, almost closed the deal. Was not comfortable with a 50 yard shot…plus the bigger one was 300 yards across the field.

Seems like a very good year, last two year’s numbers have been great in the areas I hunted. Don’t think I’m going to go up to my Fulton county properties this trip.
I bought another new bang stick so maybe I’ll try and make the last week of rifle.

Got out after deer again last night sitting in the stand near a walnut plantation. Didn't see or hear any deer until right before sunset when it was confirmed the stand needs to moved 100 yards to a different spot where we know they cross the creek. A decent 8 pt similar to the 10 pt I shot last year was too focused on a doe to come check out my rattling, but I did get him to stop and look. Didn't see the die other than a quick flash of white, and he certainly acted like he was after one. Not sure if they stayed on the edge of the plantation or if they went on up the hill. Woodpeckers of all sorts were busy the entire time - 2 loud pileated woodpeckers hung around looking for dinner most of the 2 hours I hunted, one of them was talking a lot. Lightly moderate squirrel activity - dry leaves were so bad that everything sounded closer than it really was. A couple of fox squirrels and some greys were so loud I thought they might have been deer, but nope. Did rattle some though since a lot of the squirrel noise was right in an area where the animals making tons of noise is often bucks hidden by the trees and creek bank. Would have done some grunting too but the grunt tube's tube popped off and dropped somewhere behind the golf cart while I was retrieving the doe 2 weeks ago - looked for it today and didn't find it so looks like I need to go find a new grunt tube. Found a fresh rub too about 40 yards from the stand. I have a turkey license too so this week I might get permission to take the blind out to the Purdue property after turkey and bigger bucks some.

Back in the stand this morning on public. Hopefully there is some movement this morning. Got a nice buck on cell cam an hour ago at the farm. Broken main beam past G3
