Two smaller bucks walked through the front yard around 8:00 am. Does out again hitting the acorns.

I made a frosty paddle into some public this morning. I almost hit a couple does while driving about a mile from where I’m sitting. Hopefully the deer didn’t get all their movement in before sun up. With the full moon an evening sit tonight May have been better but I don’t like the idea of trying to get a deer out of this place in the dark. All quiet so far Andrae and Cody D’acquisto say that a full moon means that the deer stay later in their beds in the evening and stay out later in the morning. Haven’t tested this theory for myself yet, but it’s an interesting idea.

Well. Almost shot one of my target bucks tonight. Had him at 15 yds but was facing me straight on. He was with a smaller buck which was right under me. Had bow in hand and waiting for him to turn broadside but when he did he managed to walk through the thickest brush pile I had within 30 yds. Walked out of my life…..for tonight. It was the long eyeguards buck I’ve been watching. . For some reason my post image site isn’t loading my pics Finally postimage working again. It was this buck last night.

Just curious what your guys’ guess is on age of this deer…? 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 yr old dear from that perspective. Looks great, tough to pass up. It all depends on your area and what other bucks you may have holding in the area. How many guys can let a deer walk in their area with even 50% confidence it will be back next year?? From the body, I’m thinking it’s a 2-1/2 yo… belly has no sag, back has no sag, not much of a brisket. All hard to see for sure from this pic. It’s so hard to say, but he’s definitely a great deer. This is on my Ohio property, and much I will only get to hunt a handful of times this year… if he’s in front of me,he’s getting an arrow flung at him. 😂 Thanks for your thoughts!

Live from the work truck this morning. The young bucks are starting to get curious about the does. I saw these two bucks sniffing around a couple does.

Haven’t tested this theory for myself yet, but it’s an interesting idea. I’ve heard that too. Also heard it the other way where they can get back to their beds early in the morning before shooting light. And, the idea that there will be a lot of movement in the mid day. While I was sitting on public land my cell cam was getting blown up with early morning movement on my private piece.

Heading out shortly to scout my way in on some public land for an evening hunt. Not going to set up until I find some hot sign.

He'd be a tremendous deer in 3-4 years but the chances of him staying alive that long AND you seeing him again are slim. I think you have better chances winning the PowerBall than seeing that deer in 3-4 years let alone next year.

Between 3 of us, we control 470 ish acres, so he is safe on our farms, few other locals managed to varying degrees. He is a 3.5 year old, we have 1 of his sheds from him last year , and some history.. Hardly any crops around us , other than our farms, which we plant alot. He has a pretty good chance of survival if he doesn't wonder too far.

Just had a mature buck cross the road in front of us. It might be time to start hunting Cold spell provided a spark, but it's looking warm for the next 8-10 days. I'm finishing up my farm work, then it will be time to get after it by next weekend. Halloween has always been my , time to get serious trigger.
