Up in a tree (that is covered in poison ivy 😑) 30 yards from a fresh scrape. Little warm but we’ll see.

Farmersburg (southwest Ind) I know where that is. I use to haul bricks out of the brick yard there to Lee Brick in Owensboro Ky. Let me see what I can do but I make no promises I’m not in a hurry, I was thinking early spring getting it done .

I made a frosty paddle into some public this morning. I almost hit a couple does while driving about a mile from where I’m sitting. Hopefully the deer didn’t get all their movement in before sun up. With the full moon an evening sit tonight May have been better but I don’t like the idea of trying to get a deer out of this place in the dark. All quiet so far Andrae and Cody D’acquisto say that a full moon means that the deer stay later in their beds in the evening and stay out later in the morning. Haven’t tested this theory for myself yet, but it’s an interesting idea. I can tell you that out here (CO) if it is an actual full, bright moon you are lucky to see ANY deer or elk during the day (antelope doesn't matter) if you are hunting near ANY type of cover you won't see anything in shooting hours. Year before last we could hear cow calls all night all around us in the incredibly thick cover......NOBODY saw a single elk in the daylight all season.

Just had a mature buck cross the road in front of us. It might be time to start hunting Cold spell provided a spark, but it's looking warm for the next 8-10 days. I'm finishing up my farm work, then it will be time to get after it by next weekend. Halloween has always been my , time to get serious trigger. I might get off Friday next week. If I do, I'll be out. I saw this buck on Turtle Creek

Almost got it done on public tonight. Found a fresh scrape between two cattail marshes (bedding). Set up about 30 yards from the scrape, 60 yards from the south bedding and 100 yards from the north bedding. Had a 140ish come out of the south bedding but he only moved about 40 yards out of the bedding before complete dark. Never got a shot. Felt good though, to concoct a plan, find hot sign, and basically do what needed to be done. Another night, he might have made it to me… just not tonight.

Had 4 does come through at 40. They milled around in some thick stuff at 20 yards and then bedded. If an opportunity arises, I’m going to lower one’s blood pressure.

Had does around me all morning. Had a big one come in to 20 but couldn’t shoot until she was heading away. Ended up taking a shot and she took a step right at the shot. Hit back, but she was slightly quartered away. Got down and have great blood for the first 40. Stopped tracking at that point to give her some time because the shot was back. Heading back in about an hour to track. Shot didn’t look good at first, but I can’t argue with the amount and color of the blood. It looks really good. Hoping she’s laying dead another 80 yards down the blood trail.

Settled in now. Should have the turdy pointer in next 10 min Maybe not a turdy pointer but purdy I'll most likely be hunting on the road behind you sometime this year to get my buddy some deer meat. Perhaps I'll whack this one. ;-)
