Zero gobbles here this morning. Maybe they froze? Its 30deg here in the NW. They were gobbling like nobody's business till just recently. Now mums the word.

My buddy was finally able to connect on a gobbler yesterday. The majority of the day was birdless but, finally around 3pm we were hearing lots of gobbling and we had several encounters. When we were giving up and heading out, he spotted a red head in a tall wheat field. Then another one. These two toms were bedded in the field. Just popping their heads up occasionally. They were in the middle of the field and a good 150 yards from us. He decided he wanted to try and stalk them, which he did successfully. He got within 20 yards, stood up and the toms got up and bolted. Only one made it to safety. Fun to watch! That's cool. Congrats to him!!! Gotta be super stealthy for dang sure.

Slept in this morning. Had a day off scheduled but decided to work. I'm learning my old body doesn't like two mornings in a row. I'll be out this evening. I honestly think I might have a better chance in the evening.

Wonderful public land hunting. Had 2 guys walk thru the field I'm in already. One guy in a bright white cowboy hat got about 25yds away before he seen my blind. 🙄

I moved to my back up spot. Nobody parked anywhere to be seen, so I went for it. Been seeing birds about every time in this far field.
Running lean on time. Either finish out as long as possible, take advantage of the nice weather and forego my nap, or risk tomorrow since the weather is supposed to turn crappy. I'll give it an hour and assess then.

But at least I have a nice big yeti full of coffee. I should have brought my thermos to the blind! Snacks (lots) and a big thermos of coffee is a must have for blind hunting..

Got one of the jakes. Normally wouldn’t have shot one but I’m hunting with my bow.

Lots of variables to contend with, pack in and out, long walk, time limit, etc. Most importantly, it's not supposed to be 28deg in turkey season with this global warming crisis. 😝

Apparently my setup is good! Bird in the field, right at my blind. Just wrong kind. 🙄🤣
