I'm so confused with season dates with all the states i hunted this year. Didn't realize indiana ended this weekend. Just called the boss and got off this weekend. Figure end Sunday out here and head back to Tennessee. Been probably the most productive and successful year I've ever had chasing these birds.

Now it’s your turn Woody.
I spent a couple hours yesterday trying to close in on one here at the house. Couldn’t get any closer than about 60 yards and he ended up heading towards the farmers field behind us. Did have a hen come in right beside me about 5 yards as I was trying to call the gobbler in.

I got up on a high point I like to go to and listen for birds, where they sometimes roost. No birds in the immediate area, but I did hear this guy way off on another spot I tried to get one yesterday. I couldn’t pull him off private the day before. After I made my way I realized he was in public so, I took the opposite down slope side of where he was and cut in front of him to where I figured he would be using the hillside to make his way to the private field. Gave a few tree yelps and flapped my hat, made some scratches and a few minutes later watched a bird fly down. Shortly after that a bird came right up on me, I sat and watched him realizing he didn’t have a beard at all. The bird I heard was definitely a full grown gobbler, not a Jake. This Jake walked about 5 feet from me then spooked. I thought to myself what the heck that stinks, his putting will scare everything off. A couple minutes later I looked up and a tom was strutting 20 yards in front of me. I let him pass by a tree and positioned myself. Might be the biggest bird to date. Huge, heavy body and long spurs

The one I chased yesterday here in my backyard is out there gobbling again. A ways off in the field it sounds like, but hoping he will head this way mid morning like yesterday and this time I have a plan and will be ready.

I'm out with my daughter in a blind but we haven't seen or heard any all morning. Pretty windy unfortunately.

The Turks have all but disappeared from my fields. Probably doesn’t help my lease farmer sprayed the fields 2 weeks ago killing everything in sight.

Big Tom down, finally after all these days. Love these deep woods public land birds Congratulations! Nothing like coming down to the wire and then dropping one! I think it took coming down to the wire for the birds to finally cooperate. Lots of close calls but after the first few days and all of last weekend, it was quiet. They flipped a switch as of yesterday on this property. Hens must have left them alone for too long they couldn’t take it anymore

Two gobblers pretty far down on the left came out, picked a little then went back in the woods. At least I saw some…..

In the blind at the new spot and haven't heard or seen anything. Been here for almost an hour. I hear small things moving around where I can't see though. Cool and quiet.
