I got invited to go crappie fishing by a friend, so fishing today instead. This is what happened when I went fishing instead of turkey hunting. Easy 15 yard shot.

Luke decided he had enough getting up early, so he bailed out of going. I inevitably did the same. If we had better action, it would be a different story. Lots to do today, including a nice dinner for the wife's birthday. Good luck fellas!

Got set up under 2 Tom’s and a Jake this morning, did some light tree yelps. They ended up pitching down about 30 yards to my right, couldn’t move a muscle then they worked off down the hill after walking around in a 3/4 strut position for a few minutes. Never works out right off the roost like that but still exciting to have happen

They’re just not responding to calls at all. Gobbling on their own sporadically, but that’s it. Been chasing one for nearly two hours now and am about to give up.

It's like they are not even there when it gets this way. Guys that tought me in Kentucky wouldn't even hunt they would say some expletives about tight lips

How close is too close? We normally just shoot them if they're inside of 40.

How close is too close? We normally just shoot them if they're inside of 40. I just meant for me to move around. I called to them before fly down and three landed right there all looking around for a hen right where I was. Big open, hilly timber doesn’t provide the best hide. They landed to my back right as well and I would have had to shift around my gun and positioning to get a shot off, which would have spooked them. I was with a friend that roosted them there before and we were hoping they would fly down a similar way they did last time, but of course turkeys are going to do what they want and switched it up on us

Right handed shooter, birds on your far right. All you can do is watch and hope to call them back once you adjust. And to top it off a turkey has zero curiosity when it comes to movement. A deer will stop and stare at you for a second or two, a turkey just leaves the county.

After church and brunch I went up to my hunting spot snd moved my blind. Most of the long beards Woodmaster and I saw there was in the field behind us. They come off a ridge and sometimes spoil banks to that field I’m about 100 yards from where the blind was but it’s now in the back field directly across from where they seem to enter the field
Hopefully they will stick to the script.

Found a spider in the blind today….Not sure the type! Hopefully it’s now the extra dead type. Either that or burn the whole blind to the ground 🤔
