Woody, so pointing it down a bit seemed to help? It was pointed down pretty good before. Pretty sure something moved it. It had been sending pictures pretty regularly before. I did repoint it after I got out of the blind.

Had one gobbling on the roost, but he was very close to the property line. I fooled with him an hour but he drifted onto the other property. Making a quick loop and I need to be home.

Decided I was done with turkeys for this week and slept in a little. 4 days in a row was enough. Good luck to everyone out there today.

Struck a gobble on the point of a ridge. Circled around to get above him and called. Unfortunately he was heading down the point gobbling away and I couldn't catch up.

We sat out. Luke wanted to sleep in anyway. I got up to the big boomers and heavy rain. I needed to recharge anyway. We got 1" rain. We plan to be back for the afternoon hunt today.

Another fairly quiet morning. Had one gobbling at daybreak, watched him pitch down and beat feet it across the field, across the road and ended up behind my house gobbling. Of course I was across from my house where he was roosted....feeling your pain Woody....woulda shoulda coulda!

I was gonna go out tomorrow morning, but apparently we're due for heavy rain and more storms.... Got permission to go out tonight. Going to try a slightly different set up and see if I can sit still long enough to allow them to trickle through. I think there's a double bearded tom there but I'm not sure. Saw him rooster last fall with a couple other toms and there appeared to be two beards but it could have just been he was aligned properly with another tom in my line of sight. No matter what he's a nice one. The tom I saw last night did from a distance have a decent body.
Funny thing... During deer season there the deer don't make themselves well know and are super super spooky all the time. Last night I saw 4 and had two blow at a hawk. Not one deer spooked even when I was in plain sight of them.

We'll see how tonight goes. This place has only one half acre or so of open prairie (I think you could call it that), but nothing else other than about 40 acres of woods. About 1/3 is open woodland while the other 2/3 is very thick brushy woodland. Greatest distance for visuals is 100 yards, if you're in the middle of the open woods part. Most of your open distances are less than 65 yards. In the thick stuff, when there's no leaves, you might be able to see 25 yards or so. So hunting here is harder if you want to be able to see the birds before you hear them. The prairie isn't really a good spot to hunt anything other than rabbits. But it's a deer magnet and travel corridor and bedding area. Turkeys..... Not so much. They are usually either in the neighboring fields or in the thick brush during the day. At night they roost throughout the property. But I have seen some turkeys down in the open areas in the middle of the day occasionally.

In my blind on my food plot.
Probably should have went back to where Woodmaster killed his bird. But that’s a longer up and down some hills walk. I’ll save that for Tuesday morning when I’ll have more time.
Bedside I had a gobbler cruise through here yesterday at 5:09

A jake went by out of range about 70yds. It was a heart pumping moment seeing a big black body finally! Good after a lull in the action!
