The wife and I had given up on looking for morels being satisfied with what little we found when our young neighbor girl gives my wife 2 huge morels she found on in the lawn this week. Yesterday I get a call from a friend who tells me he was mowing his lawn and ran one over but he was sure there was more. Early this morning the wife and I stopped by there while on our way to town and I got to tell you I picked the BIGGEST MORELS I have ever picked. I picked nearly 2 pounds in a matter of minutes. My friend says that location is the only place he ever sees them. THANK YOU MY FRIEND!

Found 4 baby woodcocks near the mushrooms. Very cool. Cute little buggers.

Those great big ones are the last to go, glad you found them. Not to rain on your parade, but when you find those you’re pretty much done.

Me and the wife went out today, just drove and walked some trails. We got a few pounds.

All in the freezer except a gallon Im dehydrating and what we eat tonight. We floured and froze on cookie sheets, then put in gallon baggies. She said she would like to go one more time next weekend. Sure wish we had some yellows up here!!

That’s awesome. Are the blacks about all you find up there? I wouldn’t complain if it was, those look great!

ID please? I saw this on Sunday in Starke County Chicken of the Woods. I like my mushrooms fried and I wasn't impressed. Better used in recipes.

I like those but ease into it. It is normally very acceptable but can cause gastric distress with a few individuals. My kids and I eat them with zero problems but my wife can't handle them.

Is this hen of the woods? Found it growing next to an oak stump.

If found next to an OAK then I would say YES. Do some research don't take my word for it.

If found next to an OAK then I would say YES. Do some research don't take my word for it. I thought it looked a bit on the pale side. But once it was cleaned and rinsed it really showed the characteristic colors more clearly. Im sure if we would have had more rain recently it would not have looked so pale. In the past when I've found them the center is much more fibrous, almost woody. This one must be more freshly sprouted.

Saw 2 logs with what looked to be fresh oysters. I didn't go look at them though. 1st one I found while messing with a tree stand then quickly forgot about it. Next flush was seen from the road.
