It was catfish beat down yesterday. Hooked and landed an easy 15 to 20. The water is very dirty this week so the normals are not all that active. No ladyfish, couldn't buy a pin fish bite, no sharks, just 1 trout, 1 snook, 2 whiting and lots of sun. Probably head back out for a few more cats. They are fun.

Shrimp, artificial, cut Whiting, live pilchards, cut catfish... We added a jack caravel, 2 Whiting and probably 25 catfish to the list this afternoon. No complaints. Both kids (19 and 17 = barely kids) wanted to fish once I was pulling them in. I rebaited, dehooked, fixed reels and got to pull in a few. I couldn't imagine letting my dad do that for me when I was 10! But I was glad to do it.

Most of my fishing is done in reverse of most of ya'lls fishing here. It sure felt weird today stocking feed trained Walleye into a pond in 90°F temps, but you do what you can do when fish are available. These are some of what were stocked last evening. They are feed trained fish and will eat floating fish food pellets.

Went out yesterday morning. Buddy and I kept 68 bluegills. The heat finally ran us off at noon. Strange where we found them. Five foot of water, the surface temperature was 85.

I gave it a shot this morning. Went where I was catching them in 95° temps last year. Only caught two 6" redears and a 5" bluegill in 12' of water with bobber set at 8'. Tried other places in 3' of water to 15' and didn't catch anything else. Just as I was packing up to go back to the ramp, this 9 3/4" redear floated up next to the boat. Color was still good and looked like it had been roughed up on the top of head and at the tail. Lunch sandwich consolation prize! Btw- full moon and beds are completely empty.

Been fishing off the piers. It is easy access and don't have to fuss with a boat. I know if I put the boat in I could probably find a good school of gills and catch a good mess but right now I am mostly fishing for relaxation and a pier does just fine. Bite has been slow but getting a few nice gills. Most in the 7 to 9 foot range. Went this afternoon from 5ish to 7:45 and got 8 gills and a couple thro back bass. After staying bizzey most of the days and feeling whipped just sitting on the piere is a good way to relax and if I catch fish that is a bonus. Did a little bullhead fishing few times and got 8 total so far. I really like watching the lighted bobbers go under at night. Got an 18-19 shell length soft shell turtle 2 days ago. If I had known they were eatable and how to clean it I would be trying turtle soup or turtle something.

Yes you can eat them. Off with their head, hang to drain. Cut the bottom shell off of the top shell, a fillet knife will do it. Cut off the feet, skin the legs, detach the legs from the top shell.

Nice morning. Big boys were back on the beds today. 28 more in the 8-9" range. Lots of them were gut hooked as I had to go without a bobber. Very few were caught with a bobber; most shyed away from that setup. Had 4 frozen water bottles in the livewell to keep everything fresh and live ones live. Crickets for almost all of them. Just now posting as caught up on mowing and had Dad's 81st birthday supper tonight.

Cats were on fire near a new treetop blowdow this morning. Had one get off at the boat because this idiot forgot there was a net in the boat! Probably half of them the bluegill hook just fell out when I got them in the boat. Used redworms under bobbers set 18" deep.

We were back at St Joe pier again. The sheephead are biting good. I forgot the cooler, so we didnt keep any to try. Old dad caught all the fish today. Luke was skunked. We did see a carp caught that was about 15#, and one steelhead just down the line. All in all, a pretty nice family day.
