Went to Michigan City, IN and fished the harbor shore Sunday morning. Lots of guys, but no bites. Not wanting to give up with the great weather, we went to the St. Joe, MI pier Sunday evening. Nice scenery here... Only thing better in a picture there, is... finally got Luke on a fish. Decent steelhead, 11.5# and 29". He got it on a piece of shrimp, and it put on a really good fight. Was good timing for my wife to come along and get to see the show. A lot of smiles made. That's awesome!!!

Couple hunks of Luke's steelhead turned into these morsels. One piece with Clark's Crew brisket rub, and one with lemon pepper rub. Put them on Big Z on the smoke setting awhile, then 180deg, then 225deg until they hit 145deg internal temp. Plucked out the pin bones and down the hatch. NO complaints. Lol. Looks great!

Not a bad morning and it’s getting warm quick so we are heading out. Even gave the kids time to swim for a bit.

Biggest has been 10 inches. Guy catches a batch from shore and posts them on Facebook. His quality and quantity are/were much better!

Next adventure are big flathead. My buddy wants to try it and I have never targeted them on monroe so why not. 25lb was my best. I watched a buddy pull in a 50 out of the white river. I don't know the laws right now but people use bluegill and baby channels and gold fish. I used a big bait caster with a clicker they have to mouth it awhile before you set the spool and lay into them. It's a fight. Live bait

Up here people swear by bullhead for catching flatheads. I have to go about 3 hours south to find them, very plentiful.

Ended Fathers Day up on the St Joe, MI pier. A storm was knocking on the door, so we only braved it about an hour before we scrammed. Luke got the prize, a sheephead. It sucked a medium crankbait down without a single hook in the mouth. I got the hooks out with needle nose, so back in he went. Got a nice dinner in with the family at Cracker Barrel too.

I bet he enjoyed that fight.
Down here we eat those. They call them white perch or just perch. I grew up calling them drum and not eating them. They are good.

Oh heck yeah, he's happy with anything that pulls back. Anymore, I mostly fish on the bottom, so the range of catchable fish goes up. I'm happy with whatever, or even nothing, as long as he is having a good time. I think back of all the memories with my dad, either catching or even just the going fishing part. Good times then and good times now.

Going for grilled Mahi and trout tacos tonight. The tacos were a hit. That fresh trout was excellent. Jamaican jerk seasoning, hot grill, cooked for about 4 min per side. Plus a pound of grilled shrimp....yum

, and I always thought those catfish were the nastiest things in the ocean. They always leave a string of slime on your line. The trout looks pretty good size, nice going!
