Couple hunks of Luke's steelhead turned into these morsels. One piece with Clark's Crew brisket rub, and one with lemon pepper rub. Put them on Big Z on the smoke setting awhile, then 180deg, then 225deg until they hit 145deg internal temp. Plucked out the pin bones and down the hatch. NO complaints. Lol.

For something different, we took one big steelhead fillet and cut it up into small pieces, and fried it like panfish. I let it go a little longer than normal to a dark brown. Everybody loved it. It firmed up and you couldnt tell it was fish, you could easily pass them off as chicken nuggets. Lol

We do lake trout nuggets like that occasionally. Grandkids love it.

Another good morning at the neighbors' pond. Several bluegill and small bass. Red worms were the preference today. Not much interest in crickets.
I managed to land a 3.15# bass. I really didn't think I would get it on the bank before the line broke.
I'm likely done for the season. The temperature is supposed to soar next week and I'm getting more interested in playing golf than cleaning fish. It's been a great spring that I am very thankful for. I've put more fish in the freezer than ever before. The combination of the kids becoming self-sufficient and a new job are big reasons for being able to fish so much.

Talked Abbie into going after a few showers blew through. Fish were hitting good right off the bat. Slip bobber set no deeper than 18" using crickets. Bite shut off and we switched to red worms and caught a few more. Kept 14 good ones. No idea how many we threw back, but almost went through a 1/2 tube of crickets. Wind was already blowing pretty decent, but when it picked up some more the bite just turned off. Fun time and got enough for our supper some night.

It's interesting how the slightest change in weather conditions has an immediate impact on fish activity. Every time the sun would peek through the clouds yesterday, no bite whatsoever. Clouds take over, game on.

I don't know what else Luke caught, but he pulled out a 5# or 6# Hybrid Striped Bass out of the pond yesterday.

21 more today at Glendale, along with 2 more golden shiners. Actually caught the shiners first and then got into the bluegills. All beds I saw today were empty. Caught around standing timber. Used crickets and a few red worms when they started getting a little picky. Kept 5 that I normally would have thrown back because they were bleeding so bad when I unhooked them. Threw back some fat females and lots of small ones.

We fished our local river Sat morning. Three of us kept a dozen bluegill and one rock bass. Threw back about same. Kind of tough fishing. Water was pretty murky.
A buddy fished a local Michigan lake. Said 4 guys in their group caught 20 keeper bluegills. Nothing on beds.
We wanted to go back to Lake Michigan but wind and waves kept us home.
Next time...

All on worms 6 to 9 feet deep except ll crappy were on super small jug and shortened artificial minney had 59 total with 11 gills over 8 in and 3 of that 8 were 8 1/2. The perch were smallish but still eat good. Crappy were all 9 1/2 in. They bit slow, but we didnot have anything else to do so we just laughed, joked around and enjoyed the evenings.

Father’s day fish fry today. Cold water gills from springtime. Ain’t nothin better. Doing the same tomorrow. Fried bluegill and crappie, homemade fries, and cold beer while watching the U.S. Open golf tournament. I also picked up two Vidalia onions and some batter mix for onion rings.
