Beat the storm. Got the last one filleted as the drops started falling. EVERYTHING caught on red worms cut in half, even the cat!

Great evening on the water bass fishing with my brother, all we caught were male's, one female. Mosquitoes ran us off the lake around 9:15pm. Fishing was really starting to pick up but we couldnt handle the bugs.

Here's a few pics. 11" Hybrid Bluegill. Just finished spawning I think, see how the bottom of it's tail is raw? The scale says it all.

Mulberry’s and Redears today’s. See a pie in my future. That right there is livin' right! Seeing the mulberries reminds me of dad makeing a mulberrie ruburb custard pie. He just replaced half the ruburb with mulberries and boy was it good. I like ruburb pie but I liked the riburb mulberry pie more.

Mulberries remind me of the flocks of black birds that would feast in the neighbor's tree and the resulting purple crap that seemed to be everywhere.

I finally got out this evening for my first fishing trip. It was short lived as the ditch I went to was still deep and moving hard. I only went a quarter mile and back. It was exhausting. Lol! I landed one on my first cast and a few more after. One nice 2.3lbs smallie. Pic didn't do it much justice I don't think. It was fun to finally get out in the water again. It was cool with my thin waders and boy, those deep pockets were difficult to cut through.

Kept 21, probably caught 40 total. Best was 9.5". Mainly went to put the boat in the water and exercise her. Planned on a little fishing, and it did not disappoint. Everything turned out very well. Best yet, Luke is cleaning the fish, so nice to get a hand.

Started out slow. Was catching only small ones till I tried the end of an old blowdown not far from some empty beds. Got some nice, big bulls from that spot. Went to try some more blowdowns, but only caught some more small ones. Mom, 74 years old, called and wanted to join me. Picked her up at the ramp and decided to fish the cove there out of the wind. Dang if we didn't find 2 small sets of beds. Got several big bulls from those beds. We fished till supper, so I just off-loaded into a cooler and threw on a big bag of ice to clean them later. Kept 21. My big question this time... what are these? Look like golden shiners? Kept them to make cut bait for catfish. Pretty sure it would have been illegal to release even though we caught them in Glendale.

I haven't counted or cleaned them yet, but I have a cooler full from 2.5hrs this morning. I decided to leave when I heard the landowner start his mower. I'd have been there all day shooting the bull with him. I alternated crickets and worms. Bass and bluegill were very active. It sounds strange, but 2lb bass were a hassle. I caught several and they would stir up the shoreline when landing them. In my opinion, those are too big to clean and should be released. I kept plenty of smaller bass and nice male bluegill. I'll have a few cold ones and fire up the Bubba cordless fillet knife after lunch.

Went to Michigan City, IN and fished the harbor shore Sunday morning. Lots of guys, but no bites. Not wanting to give up with the great weather, we went to the St. Joe, MI pier Sunday evening. Nice scenery here... Only thing better in a picture there, is... finally got Luke on a fish. Decent steelhead, 11.5# and 29". He got it on a piece of shrimp, and it put on a really good fight. Was good timing for my wife to come along and get to see the show. A lot of smiles made.
