We finally have some here at my place in Marshall County, several hundred in the trees in our yard. Funny thing is, I have yet to hear the first one. Maybe that comes later?

Still none @ my place in the southern part of the state.
But it's raining today, and I've read that after a rain they emerge.
If it happens it does, but I won't be disappointed if they don't show.

Like most everything these days, I believe the news blew this out of proportion. This is the third go around in my life with these guys and I don't remember either of the previous ones being some Alfred Hitchcock movie scene.
They are what they are, and do what they do, but never have been any harm to humans. Personally, I fear the continued urban expansion and woodlot clearing will eventually wipe these guys out. I don't believe it will be in my lifetime, but I do believe every emergence will be considerably less than the previous one.

However when I was 8 years old there were cicadas like no other all in my neighborhood it was Alfred Hitchcock at his best!

Fishing yesterday at Westwood lake, just out of New Castle, there were quite a few in the woods there. The ones that landed in the water didn't last very long.

I don't believe it will be in my lifetime, but I do believe every emergence will be considerably less than the previous one. There were quite a few where I lived at last time in Clay Co. My parents had a pool and I had to clean the skimmer out twice a day for a few days because it was getting clogged up with cicadas. Supposedly every so often a group breaks the cycle and comes out after 4 years. If that group survives then there will be another cycle from those so while I agree the numbers at each emergence will probably be down the emergences will increase. I hear them all around my house and in the edge of the woods I see numerous holes but nothing in my actual yard, I assume because the lot was cleared about 15 years ago.

Squat in Knox county. Went fishing the other day hoping that I would come across some and use them for bait, nothing. On the plus side the water in the lake is absolutely crystal clear. Can see down around 5 feet or so, when normally it is like a foot. I hate the little bass, had seen the 2 largest bass in our lake for a long time and cast out and just as soon as they took off towards the bait a little "catfish bait" got it. Next time I'll make an example of one of them.

Still none anywhere I have gone with the exception of a trip to a friend's pond over the weekend. Took my daughter to get a few bluegills and the cicadas could be heard in the trees around the pond. Found a few dead ones scattered around and tried to use them for bait without any luck. Caught enough bluegills on crawlers for supper.

They are terrible at home and at work. I mowed today and they were bombing me. I never believed they swarmed to the sound of a mower. I'm a believer now. I was pulling one off me every 30 seconds the entire time. It was very aggravating. They didn't do that the last time I mowed.

I freaked out slightly and that doesn't happen often for me and critters.

Drove home from work yesterday and hit a good couple hundred on the highway. So bad I almost had to pull over on an exist to clean the window. Got most of the it off. Going to work is okay, but way home it's carnage time!

I'm camping in Cloverdale, IN this week. The cicadas here are a little larger than the ones at home. They have a slightly different tone as well.
