Add 2 more to team 3, The Fuzzytail Bandits. I saw 2 other small ones, either grays, pineys or chipmunks, not sure which, running around but I couldn't get a shot. A half hour after I got there and got these,it started raining so I called it a morning. In my older age I'm getting a little picky about my hunting weather conditions . I'm out here for our team only seen 1 so far didnt have shot at all.

2 more for Team #1 LCB. Found cuttings under several trees this morning, but no squirrels. Finally found 2 in a small Hickory and the second one took off for parts unknown when I shot the first one. Then the wind picked up and I only found one more as it was coming down another Hickory with two nuts for the road. Personal count is now 29. Pretty dang good weekend!

Chock up 2 more for team 3 The Fuzzytail Bandits. I dropped another 1 but couldn't find it,I guess it crawled away and I didn't see it. I missed a couple and saw a couple more I couldn't get shots at. I heard a couple barking I couldn't find too. All in all a pretty decent morning even though my last squirrel got stuck in a small fork and it took 4-5 shots to dislodge it, including in the back end. That brings my season total to 8.

Three more on the board for team five, almost got a fourth but the little bugger hopped over the property line into protected forest land. I haven’t figured out how to post pictures on here yet

2 more for Team #1 LCB. Too windy again this morning despite the forecast for 3-5 mph wind. On top of that, the boogers wouldn't sit still except for the female I got. Would have probably had my limit if I had taken the 20 gauge, but I hate biting pellets. Can't wait for cooler temps! Personal total is 31. That's my portable skinning board that everything is sitting on.

3 for team #7. I don't see fox squirrels too often so I'm pretty excited about that!

2 more for Team #1 LCB. Wind died down at 3pm, so I had to go exact a little revenge for this morning. Took my 870 20 gauge with 7/8 ounce reloads with hard (magnum shot) #5s. Pretty thick understory in this woods. Rifle would be better there after the leaves drop. Personal total is 33.

I didn't really notice any difference as far as being easier. But on one of the greys I made a bad starting cut and that made it more difficult to get started, and I'd started noticing a couple fleas on one so I was trying to work a bit quick on him. One thing I noticed immediately was grabbing the back legs of the fox squirrel to pull, noticeably better handles haha...

As we know, skinning fresh after the kill makes all the difference in the world. I would give 10 fox for one grey squirrel. A mature fox is tough all the way around, especially cooking. IMO, grey's taste better too. When you can fry them in a pan and eat like chicken, you got something!

I made my mind up this year after cooking the two my son and I shot that I think I’m done squirrel hunting. Just can’t get into eating them. I have always ate them because I killed them, but I’m done. Tried many different ways but just can’t enjoy eating it.

Throw two more up on the board for team five, got home earlier than expected and the better half was still at work so that meant two hours in the woods for me. Running a bit low on my shot shells now, hard to find places near me that have 16g in stock

You just got to put in the extra effort with the crock pot or pressure cooker, or canner with jars, to get a viable meal. Some guys think it's the best meat in the woods. My wifes kin folk in east KY have it on the table every single day. But they still eat the heads too, so I'm out.

I don’t know how all these guys just straight up fry it and enjoy it. I let it sit in a salt brine over night then crock pot the next day. We typically just have one meal on the weekend and invite friends over.

I have did the crockpot, oven, fried, grilled, and over the campfire. Used multiple spices, gravy, etc and just can’t say I enjoy eating it.
