They were cutting hard this morning & I found out the old .410 won't make it to the top of the tree. I caught this one cutting down low BIG mistake. First one for team #8 I think I'll be taking the 12ga next time, so I can hit the ones in the top of the tree.

.410 or 12 ga. They all will make it to the top of the tree, the pellets are going the same speed if the shells are marked the same dram equivalent on the box. It's up to you to pattern the gun to make sure the pattern is dense enough to kill the squirrel.

2 more for me and team 4. Really liking this hatsan flash in 25. Anyone looking to get into air rifles should check these out. Very accurate, quiet, and easy to pump up if dont want to mess with air tanks

5 more grays for Team 1 LCB! Great morning! 3 out of one hickory and didn't make it 50 yards and got 2 more from another hickory. Maybe these will make it to the freezer instead of the fryer. 😁 Makes 7 for my personal total. Gonna put the 881 away now and go back to my favorite...Marlin 17 Mach II.

Dang omega... Great morning! I got out for the first time this morning. Nada Zip Zero! The CZ 452 Mannlicher sure looked good cradled in my arms, though! And the skeeters must’ve like it, too! Dozens had a big ole swarm of party hovering over her!!!

Here is my take this morning for Team #8 Squirrel Busters. I tried out last seasons hunting spot & didn't see a thing. I ran back to my new spot & they were cutting up a storm. I took this one about 5 steps into the woods with the first shot. Then the rest scrambled & never gave me another shot.

Saying a week of 90's coming. Not a lot of interest then. Will get in the mood when the sweat isn't burning my eyeballs. Lol.

Last weekend my son got the only one we got a shot at. Went back out this morning and I missed the only one we got a shot at. Did see a few, but still no cutting. Although I did find some unripe acorns on the ground here and there. Maybe activity is about to start picking up a bit.

I thought it was odd too that the squirrels were not cutting on any of the acorn trees just the Shag Bark Hickory. They were ganged up on those, I counted 4 in the top of one tree.

It's been a little while since I've squirrel hunted, but I thought I remembered them cutting heavily on hickory almost exclusively in early season, then switching to oaks later...

I know most of the years I've hunted, which has been since the mid 70s,I've seen them cutting on oaks and hickories both when the season came in. There's been a few years I've seen them cutting the oaks first.

Thank goodness I was thinking maybe the covid had gotten to them. LOL It's the first time I haven't had work get in the way of my hunting. Normally I wouldn't get out until I took vacation to deer hunt. Retirement is starting to be fun.

Nope not yet I'll let all the covid nonsense die out before trying to find something. I really don't need a job I just need a pass time type job for the non hunting months. I had planned to go fishing this spring but every time I tried to get out it was like fishing in the middle of Walmart's parking lot. LOL
