See answer above. Besides why loose an hour for something that has no benefit?

Tele-check is great! No extra road-trips. Kill it, hang it, tag it, call it in & resume hunting.

Heck ,lets give Tele-check a 5 year trial ,then run it through the committee, then another 5 years of discussions, then put it up for a vote.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.... Git 'er done! just the other night Govenor Daniels reported in his State of the State Address that the state of Indiana does in fact currently have a cash surplus! CASH SURPLUS!!!!! yet my property taxes rose 86% this last year! I don't mean to go off on a tangent here, but only about 1% of your property taxes go to the state. If you're upset about your property taxes, put the blame where it belongs, with your local goverment.

It would be handy but the poaching WILL go through the roof. I promise. People wont have that thought in there mind that they have to drive all the way to the check station and check it in. They will get home and figure heck I made it this far with out checking it in I'll just process it and nobody will know. I am not saying everyone and I am not implying anyone on here poaches but we all know people that in the back of our minds are almost certain that they poach. I have talked to many people about this and a few of our CO's and they are think that it wouldnt be such a great idea.

That line of thinking doesn't make any sense to me; if they process their own neither system is any roadblock to not checking it in; if anything telecheck would make it easier for them to report and making it less of a hassle could actually get that person to comply - although in reality that person isn't going to comply anyway with either system. I have yet to hear why it would cause an increase in poaching; as it has been stated a million times, if they're going to poach it doesn't matter what system is in place; as is often the case the only people affected are the law abiding.

I've said it before, and I'll say it yet again: I actually think we'll see a slight increase in reported harvest numbers once tele-check is implemented.
Every year there are hunters who have a license but fail to check in a deer for various reasons. I don't have any numbers on how many people actually do this, and I don't think anyone does. But I know it happens. It's these hunters who will virtually become non-existant; they will have no excuse to not check in a deer.
I don't buy the argument of poaching will increase. An easier way of checking deer won't cause an increase in poaching. If anything, the increased licensed fees a few years back did more to increase poaching than any one thing in the last 10 years....

I don't think that poaching will go thru the roof, there may be a slight increase but not a major increase. I am in more computers than I really care to think about and there are more and more places that know to much about my personal business than like or want. Just not that eager to have another with more ties to me than they have now.

I don't see where I can click on the poll. I would have clicked the Support button! Gas can, This is one that TrapperDave started back in January 21, 2008. A lot of us have already voted on this one. I bumped it up just in case some others haven't. As administrator I can check and see who has voted. I can not see HOW anyone voted, nor would I want to. You have voted.
