In the morning I saw 5 deer and 5 turkey. I was starting to draw on a turkey when he spotted me and flew into a nearby tree. In the evening I count over 2 dozen deer. There were absolutely everwhere!! I saw 2 bucks one of which I grunted at 3 times as loudly as I could and drew him from 148 yards to 23 yards. As he started to turn broadside I drew and placed my pin behind his shoulder. At the same time some idiots dog began barking and spooked all the deer from the field, I was hunting, back into the woods. He was an average 6 pointer, which would have been my first deer, but maybe tommorrow. Overall great day saw a tone of activity. Going to a different part of the state tommorrow so must goto sleep now. Good luck all!

Had 2 bucks and 4 does at 10 yards this morning (biggest one would go around 120") but I let him go. I got a 150" buck on my trail cam in this spot. Took my 4 year old daughter this afternoon and we saw 2 small bucks. No turkeys.

Good to here the reports......I've been hunting a few times since season opened here Sept. 3 . Today was the first time I've got to hunt morning and afternoon . I guess it been the cooler temps of late but I seen more deer activity today than past hunts . So far seen lots of slickheads ...passed on one giving me a good shot angle on opening day ....hadnt had a good shot since . I havent seen a set of horns yet but ran across some rubs today on trees 3" in diameter .....I think he's one I seen last January before season went out ... didnt get a real good look but he had a lot of mass then . Its always good to think you have big one running around. On another note ...found a small scrape at our food plot . About the size of a dinner plate fully equipped with a licking branch. Not out of the norm but a little earlier than normal ....usually start seeing those around the field about middle to last of the month . Little buck must be feeling his oats during that cool spell. Been too hot to get real excited but its just going to get better. Sounds like some of you guys are on the verge of taking some good bucks....good luck and enjoy the season .

JD,
It's hot here too.
Yesterday evening it was sweating and fighting skeeters.
I'll probably just hunt mornings for awhile..
Bring on a cold snap...

Flushed two does on two separate occasions , no shot opportunities though . And is it just me or are the mosquitos especially horrible right now ? About the only place on me they can attack is right around my eyes and through the mesh gloves I'm wearing due to the outfit I have on , but I counted over 20 on just one hand ! Screw scent free ! Next outing the No Stinkin' Bugs is coming out .

Had two does "appear" 15 feet away from me. No shots available. My biggest concern was the severe thunderstorm I was in!!! I had to jump from the stand from about eight feet, on my way down, because the lighting was so bad!!

Shot an 8 point Buck150 lb field dress in Warren county this AM. Trying for heart shot at 30 yards, deer heard the Bow, jumped and Arrow struck about 4 or 5 inches high. found Arrow stuck in ground covered with lots of blood. deer ran down a gully. after a while I started to look for deer,no blood trail, not a drop to be found!. after looking for appox 10 min finally saw the bucks white throat, about 50 or 60 yards down the gully, boy was I glad. as I started to field dress I found the upper body cavity completely full of blood. must have struck a main artery. getting the buck back out of the gully to load him up,boy was that a job. had to stop and rest about every 20 feet.also saw two turkey hens in the corn field, could not believe how small they were, would not have shot had they been close. And it was a great day just to be in the woods, and the deer was a bonus. Best to all,and good luck

Hunted some private property in Washington County this morning....the property is right around the corner from Delaney Park (county park). We seen 8 deer so far out in the bean field, we couldnt tell what they were.
The old fella that owns the place said he aint seen a hunter since last deer season, nobody showed up for spring turkeys, he said.
I-65 from Indy to Seymore was all combines. I think all crops will be out early this year as farmers are rushing to beat the next fuel increase.
Oh Yea!....the Ameristep Roundhouse was S-W-E-E-T......

I checked out that blind today and I was impressed. I am 6'4" and it was plenty tall enough for me to walk around in. Its basically a tent...

Well it is going to be another one of those years. I went opening morning about 9:30 looked left and there was a deer it walked down the trail broadside 20 yards. It duct the arrow, the next deer in the group walks up I get another arrow ready shot same thing I made sure I was bending at the waist not dropping my arm. Broadheads made a lot of noise hissing on the way not sure if this had anything to do with the misses. It was probably me not sure. There was 5 deer total in group didn't spook them they just walked off.
I did not hunt the afternoon got a call with some bad news did not want to sit in stand and have that message playing over and over in my head.
Sunday morning had a doe coming down a trail at about 50 yards takes hard left turn and goes on another trail then it rained on me.
